Lucy walks slowly from the bus stop
A bright eyed girl of ten
She loves ballet, ponies, Bubblegum pop, playing Barbie and Ken,
Lucy's pace slows as she approaches Mother at their front door
Mother's face shows her aggravation,
Lucy knows what's in store
When Dad gets home he'll light the fuse And soon thereafter war ensues
But Lucy's lucid
She dances through their fighting
She pays their taunts no mind
Lucy's lucent and she prays that morning might bring the peace she hopes to find Lucy stares out her bedroom window Wishes upon a star
She'll break away from this perilous life Her dreams will take her far
Lucy's eyes magnify a longing to live a life less strained
A quiet child afraid she'll say the wrong thing
But fear won't keep her chained
Someday soon she'll take control
And she'll will her way out of this hole Lucy's lucid
She dances through their fighting
She pays their taunts no mind
Lucy's lucent and she prays that morning might bring the peace she hopes to find
