Lucy walks slowly from the bus stop A bright eyed girl of ten She loves ballet, ponies, Bubblegum pop, playing Barbie and Ken, Lucy's pace slows as she approaches Mother at their front door Mother's face shows her aggravation, Lucy knows what's in store When Dad gets home he'll light the fuse And soon thereafter war ensues But Lucy's lucid She dances through their fighting She pays their taunts no mind Lucy's lucent and she prays that morning might bring the peace she hopes to find Lucy stares out her bedroom window Wishes upon a star She'll break away from this perilous life Her dreams will take her far Lucy's eyes magnify a longing to live a life less strained A quiet child afraid she'll say the wrong thing But fear won't keep her chained Someday soon she'll take control And she'll will her way out of this hole Lucy's lucid She dances through their fighting She pays their taunts no mind Lucy's lucent and she prays that morning might bring the peace she hopes to find Words and Music Copyright 2005 Brandon Henderson
