Todrick Hall - Epic Love (Commentary) lyrics

"Epic Love" is one of the songs that's the closest to my heart. I had met the love of my life—or who I thought was the love of my life—my first true love when I was 19 years old. I had just gotten let go from my first big job and I was so depressed and I was like "how am I gonna make it in this business if I can't even, like, keep a job performing?" And it was just a really rough time in my life. And I think everything happens for a reason. Because after I went back home to try to regroup and try and get myself together, I started working at Six Flags, I met this person and I had a lot of my first experiences—the first time I really fell in love, the first time I had traveled with someone, the first time I had lived with someone, the first time I had fully opened myself up and completely, like, been pure and honest and, like, put all my feelings out on the table for anyone was with this person. But the feeling that you get when you hear this song is exactly how I felt when I wrote the song. And I just think it has a very powerful message. The point is to just—sometimes in life you have to move on, but you shouldn't forget the feelings that you had for that person or what it felt like the first time you held the love of your life's hand. And I think this song will remind anybody who's ever been in love what it felt like to be in love the very first time. Because we had the epic love, honey. And even though I've moved on and loved since then, there's no love like the first love and that's what this song is all about. And so it is very near and dear to my heart and I love it and I'm so glad that the world is finally getting to hear it now.
