[Scene opens on the mountain path as Fei enters. Fei stops at a junction and reads a sign: This way: Walking course. Watch out for the cliffs!! That way: Doctor's house. ...Right after the bridge.] FEI "Alright! Let's go!" [Fei walks a little ways up the path and surveys the area. Camera pans back to a wide shot of the path area.] FEI "Doc Uzuki's house is over the bridge and up to the north." [Fei makes his way up the mountain path, on the way stealing a nutritious-looking egg from a bird (:P), catching a spider and jumping several gaps. On the way he is attacked by different creatures. Normal battle music: "Stage of d**h." Finally gets to a sign: This way to Doctor Citan Uzuki's house!" He goes past it to the summit.] ----- [Begin music: "The Valley Where the Wind is Born"] [Scene opens on Citan's property. Camera pans the area showing the whole area of Citan's property as Fei enters. Fei walks in the house. Scene change.] [Scene opens on the main living area of the house. Fei walks into the main house and sees Yui, Citan's wife, and Midori, his daughter hanging about in the kitchen. Fei goes over and talks to Yui.] YUI "Oh Fei, welcome." FEI "Hello, Yui. Where's doc...?" YUI "My husband is tinkering with his junk out in the backyard." FEI "I should have guessed! Doesn't he ever get sick of playing with that stuff!" [Fei nods.] FEI "Well, okay then, I'll go out into the backyard and see if I can find him." [Fei looks down for something.] FEI "Oh, I nearly forgot! Yui, I found this on the mountain path... Please use it to make a tasty egg dish for doc and Midori." YUI "Oh, what a nutritious looking egg! Thank you. I'll use it for dinner." NOTICE Gave the egg you worked so hard for to Yui. [Fei goes over and talks to Midori.] FEI "Hi, Midori. It's a nice day to play outside. How about we feed the birds later?" MIDORI "..." [Fei leaves the house. Scene change.] [Scene opens on outside Citan's house. Fei snoops around to the backyard. On the way, he stops behind some bushes.] NOTICE Found Midori's Ring! Fei put the ring away secretly. [Fei moves back by a shed behind the main house.] FEI "Where are you, doc?" [Silence music.] [An explosion rocks the shed and the surrounding area in front of Fei.] FEI "W, what's going on?" VOICE Ohhh! This is no good! Why do they use such inferior parts? This is why their intervention strat... [Camera pans up to the top of the shed revealing Citan standing on top of a crab-shaped machine.] FEI "Doc!! So that's where you were!" [Unmute music.] [Citan turns around to see Fei below him.] CITAN "Oh, Fei! Good to see you." FEI "Are you alright, doc? What are you doing all the way up there?" [Citan starts to look like he's thinking.] CITAN "I thought I would try to restore this Land Crab. Oh, and that explosion was nothing to worry about. It happens all the time. Ha, ha, ha...!" [Citan looks up again.] CITAN "Could you wait a while? I am just about ready to call it a day. Oh, yes. There is something interesting in the storeroom... Why not take a look!?" FEI "Okay, doc, I will. But please hurry up. It will get dark before you know it." [Fei enters the room below the Land Crab. Scene change.] [Scene opens on Citan's workshop. There is a yellow box standing out in the center of the room, about twice Fei's height. Fei examines it.] FEI "So this is what doc was talking about. Let me see... What's so interesting about it..." [Stop music. Machine rumbles and then smokes while gears rotate behind it. It then starts to open. Fei jumps back.] FEI Wow!? [The machine opens to reveal a angelic-like statue with a sun over it.] FEI "W, what is this...?" [Begin music: "Distant Promise"] [The machine begins to rotate and some pinkish matter flies around the room as it plays the music box-like song. The whole room takes on a pinkish hue similar to that of the matter flying around.] FEI "This music...? I've heard it before somewhere...?" VOICE What do you think? Not bad, huh? [Fei turns around to the door.] FEI "Doc..." [Citan enters the doorway.] CITAN "Hello again Fei. Sorry to have kept you waiting." [Citan walks up to the box, and Fei moves to one side, and starts looking at it again.] CITAN "Music is a mysterious thing... Sometimes, it makes people remember things that they do not expect. Many thoughts, feelings, memories... things almost forgotten... Regardless of whether the listener desires to remember them or not..." FEI "Doc, what is this...?" CITAN "It was excavated from some old ruins, and is still under repair. Obviously it is an audio device of some type." [Citan looks down for a second, then up again.] CITAN "Long ago people would listen to this melody, just as we are doing now... At times they would have been cheered up... While at times they would have been made to cry." [Fei looks at Citan for a second, then back at the music box.] FEI "..." [Citan turns to Fei.] CITAN "By the way, what brings you here today?" [Fei turns to Citan.] FEI "Oh yeah, that's right! Alice asked me to borrow some camera equipment from you." CITAN "Oh yes. Her wedding is tomorrow, right...?" [Citan looks back at the box.] CITAN "Understood. Well, we had better get them ready then." [Citan looks off at the wall, tapping his foot.] CITAN "Oh, and dinner should be ready soon. Would you like to join us?" FEI "Would I ever! I was hoping you would ask." CITAN "I still have some cleaning up to do out here. Would you mind giving Midori some company back in the house?" [Fei nods.] FEI "Okay. Take your time, doc. I'll go ahead and eat when dinner is ready!" [Citan nods at Fei.] CITAN "Ha, ha, ha. Go right ahead. But, I will not be held responsible if you get a stomachache from eating my wife Yui's cooking." [Fei starts to leave but at the doorway, he stops and looks at the box again. Citan turns around to face Fei.] FEI "Doc... I feel strange when I listen to this music... I feel something warm inside..." [Citan nods.] CITAN "That just may be because you have someone living inside of you... ... And he too must have liked this music a long time ago before he became a part of you..." FEI "..." [Fei leaves. Citan looks down in thought.] CITAN "Is Timothy and Alice's wedding really tomorrow... It might actually be better to live an ordinary life, in this condition... As a son of man..." [Citan looks up and composes himself.] CITAN "Well, anyway. I suppose I had better adjust the gyro at least..." [Citan starts to walk to a different part of the shed, then he becomes conscious of something and stops, looking back at the box.] CITAN "Huh....!?" [The music begins to slow, and then it stops completely. The statue rotates as less as the music slows and stops.] [Begin music: "Ominous" - not recorded on OST so we will call it "Ominous," since that's what it sounds like.] [The statue on the box rumbles for a few seconds, then shatters into a million pieces.] CITAN "This cannot be... Is... is this... an omen...?" [Citan walks back to the box.] CITAN "... Now, what is going to happen...?" [Citan turns towards the wall, lost in thought.] [Scene fade.]
