SixtyMinutes - Exploring WWE Network: Backlash 2003 lyrics

Poster Opening video Not knowing anything about the feud between The Rock and Goldberg, the opening video was alright. It was interesting the way they kept repeating "nothing" while they replayed clips from Goldberg's WCW Undefeated Streak. Didn't really offer much else though, no words from Goldberg, no reasoning behind their rivalry. Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin vs Los Guerreros This match just makes me sad. It features great tag team action, good technical sh**, and just funny work from both teams, but it just shows wasted talent and potential. Eddie had his life f**ed up from wrestling, rest in peace. Shelton Benjamin used to be amazing, and he truly was the Gold Standard, but he's just kind of wallowing into obscurity now. There's a WWE return rumored for him though, so I still have hope. The match itself is great, like I said. The fake tags that Eddie kept doing with him loudly clapping when the ref wasn't looking were great. Also the fact that Charlie and Benjamin brought a large picture of Kurt Angle with his medals draped around it made me laugh, very nice touch. Sean O Haire vs Rikishi There were a few funny moments in the match but it's oh so skippable. Only worth watching if you want to stare at Rikishi's ma**ive arse. No, seriously. Only watch this if you have an interest in Samoan booty. We don't even get a full stinkface in this one. Sean O Haire wins but this was likely just a rub from Rikishi. Would've worked better if the match was actually good. RVD and Kane vs The Dudleys for the World Tag Team Championships RVD and Kane talk backstage about how some guy named Moorely made himself referee for their match against the Dudleys. Kane and RVD sound really corny but it catches people up on the storyline I suppose. Wow this match was pretty damn good. RVD is great as always, love the kicks and sh** that he does. The Dudleys pulled off a lof of nice power moves, even getting in a 3D and a Bubba Bomb. Multiple sidewalk slams in the match that looked really clean. Hell, all the top rope high flying action was great too, even Kane got involved with a flying clothesline. The mini-storyline of Moorely pretending to be an impartial referee, and then slowly showing more bias towards helping the Dudleys, was great. Moorely ended up trying to clothesline RVD in the middle of the match but instead clotheslined Bubba. D-Von got pissed, got on top of Moorely and beat the sh** out of him. This led to The Dudleys losing, cause Moorely said f** you I'm not helping you anymore. Big Show vs Rey Mysterio They play a few clips showing how Rey has embarra**ed Show over the last couple of weeks, making him fall on his a** and trip over steps and sh**. Big Show is actually interesting in this match, as is Rey Mysterio. Rey has to find inventive ways to damage the giant, and even slams a steel chair into the face of Show following a ref distraction. Big Show ends up delivering a ma**ive chokeslam and winning. When Mysterio is put on a stretcher by medical, Show picks him up and smacks him around. When he lets go of the stretcher Rey falls on his face. Like just directly slams his face to the ground. Kind of irresponsible on Show's part, Rey could've actually been hurt, but anyways. Show's viciousness is refreshing. John Cena vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship They play a bada** video package before the match. Gives a great overview of the storyline, catches you up to speed, and show's each wrestler's motivation. This Cena is a Cena I actually like, the Doctor of Thuganomics. Still praying for him to return to this gimmick. Cena comes out and raps about his opponent per usual, and some of his lines are actually clever. The match features some varied moves from Cena, and good back and forth action. However, it's just really hard for me to legitimize Cena being competitive in this bout with how dominant Lesnar is being booked in present day. Cena was much smaller in 2003 than he is today, so that just adds to it. Lesnar ends up winning with an F5. Booker T, Shawn Michaels, and Kevin Nash vs Triple H, Ric Flair, and Chris Jericho Booker T, Shawn Michaels, and Kevin Nash talk backstage about being ready for their match. Big Daddy says keep Triple H away from him. The end. An interview with the opposing team is also shown. Jericho, Flair, and Triple H brag like a typical heel team, with Jericho being the best on the mic out of the three. Lillian walks away prematurely like mid-interview and they all snap at her, seems like it was unplanned but I thought it was funny as hell. The video package before the match is probably the best out of all. Without many words, it lays out an interesting story of betrayal. It shows how all of the wrestlers struggle with trusting each other, and how all of them interfered in each other's matches at some point or another recently. The match is pretty good, with Jericho impressing me the most yet again. Unfortunately, around this point the PPV failed to hold my attention. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I'm not going to continue watching a PPV just to finish out a page. Favorite match RVD and Kane vs The Dudleys, easily. Big Show and Mysterio was pretty good as well, but it was less of a wrestling intensive match and was very story driven. I wish RVD was still in action, I love his kicks and flippy sh**. The Dudleys are also bada**, but that's a given.
