SHANTÉH - Bridges lyrics

{intro - poet luo} I remember when you entered my life It was when uncle got tired of playing games on the mega drive And switched up the mood From pg to x-rated The first time i encountered you You looked beautiful You stranger Devil in a blue dress You parasite, that i can't seem to get rid of now So i wrote you a letter See it as a poem, see it as my divorce papers See it as you will Just take in my words {verse 1 - shantÉh} I see you've come back to haunt me again I nevеr wanted this for myself Tried to closе my eyes to you Cos you're bad for my health You've got a good grip that takes more than a good grip just to pry it off So it's hard to breathe I need release Release from your hands around my neck You've got a bad way of luring me in but making me feel ashamed So it's hard to see Myself released Released from your way, what is next? Pre-chorus Why do you keep haunting me? I'm tryna cross these bridges but you're lighting fires under my feet {chorus} But it was him that i needed It was only him i ever needed It was him that i needed But it was only him i ever It was him that i It was only him i ever needed, yeah It was him that i needed But it was only him i ever needed (no leavin') It was him that i But it was only him i ever needed {rise - ruth-ellen} I want you I need you More of you forever and a day A day I want you I need you More of you forever and always (always, yeah) I want you I need you More of you forever and always Yeah {verse 2 - shantÉh} I know you're here just to mess my mind Why did find me at a young age? I've cried and tried to be loosed But since you came in nothing's been the same You've got a good grip that takes more than a good grip just to pry it off So it's hard to breathe I need release Release from your hands around my neck You've got a bad way of luring me in but making me feel ashamed So it's hard to see Myself released Released from your way, what is next? {pre-chorus} Why do you keep haunting me? I'm tryna cross these bridges but you're lighting a fire under my feet {chorus} But it was him that i needed It was him that i needed But it was only him i ever needed (no leavin') It was him that i But it was only him i ever needed, yeah It was him that i needed It was him i needed (no leavin') Cos it was only him i ever It was him that i needed, yeah I'm tryna cross these bridges but you're lighting a fire under my feet... {outro - poet luo} So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. the trouble is with me, for i am all too human, a slave to sin. i don’t really understand myself, for i want to do what is right, but i don’t do it. instead, i do what i hate. but if i know that what i am doing is wrong, this shows that i agree that the law is good. so i am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. and i know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. i want to do what is right, but i can’t. i want to do what is good, but i don’t. i don’t want to do what is wrong, but i do it anyway. but if i do what i don’t want to do, i am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. i have discovered this principle of life—that when i want to do what is right, i inevitably do what is wrong. but there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. this power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. oh, what a miserable person i am! who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? thank god! the answer is in jesus christ our lord. so you see how it is: in my mind i really want to obey god’s law, but because of my sinful nature i am a slave to sin (romans 7:14‭-‬21‭, ‬23‭-‬25 nlt)
