Rap Genius Interviews - RG Interview #9: Izuna lyrics

How did you start rapping? Like a few years ago a friend of mine who rapped randomly wanted me to do a verse on a song of his. He gave me the beat and told me to just write a verse. It was awful… We didn't record with an actual mic, we had no idea what mixing was, and I didn't know how to use my voice. The beat we rapped over was “Straight Outta Southside” by G-Unit Who are your musical influence? My main influences are Eminem, Charles Hamilton and some MF DOOM. There are lot of other artists that I have learned and taken bits and pieces from that are less obvious Tell us how BRVETHE came about Tethra hit me up on twitter asking to collab and I figured sure why not….although I definitely said in an unreleased song that I hated collaborating I ended up accepting like 3 collab requests without really putting much thought behind it lol I had writers block for a while and had only gotten 4 lines done but one day while outside, words and lines came to me and I ended up writing the rest of the song on the way home. I recorded the verse in about 4 takes too which is rare. I usually do like 30+ takes for a verse because I screw up a lot or I think it just doesn't sound good enough. I sent it back to Tethra, he put a verse on it and from there it was finished How do you feel about your ranking? Surprised to be honest since I really don't peddle my music around or socialize with people on RG aside from the forum discussion. I don't think I'm a good enough rapper to share music yet. I guess 20 people listened to my song and liked it Do you have any other projects in the works as of now? Yes, I have OUROBOROS coming soon. It's all recorded. I just need to mix it a little so I can finally put it out and work on something else before it gets too dated. I really want to have it mixed by a legit engineer but I'd rather do it myself. Maybe in the future I'll have it remixed and remastered What do you have to say to your fans and your voters? “Thanks” is all I can really say for now Where do you want to eventually end up in terms of your music? I have no idea really. I do music as a hobby so I don't expect to ever get rich or famous off it or anything
