PsyQonaut - The Low End Theory album review lyrics

Track 1 Excursions Definitely one of the best openers to any album ever. That first verse by Tip is just so f**in crazy and the funky beat just matches up so well with what he is saying. The horns that kick in during the hook is also well placed and definitely sets this off as an A+ 90's beat 10/10 Track 2 Buggin' Out A great more upbeat happy go lucky type of vibe all over this song. Phife absolutely k**s it with some punchlines and just a great energy to everything. Tip also k**s it as usual. This beat manages to be even funkier than the last song with some really great drums in it 10/10 Track 3 Rap Promoter Another really bumping song that has a little more of a subdued beat, but some super bada** rapping from Tip. His flow is just f**ing crazy for real 9.5/10 Track 4 bu*ter This beat is one of the best on the album for me. The drums are great and the beat change for the hook is amazing. Speaking of the hook on this song, it is simple but also just crazy good. One of the many highlights of this album 10/10 Track 5 Verses From the Abstract This has a more of a R&B vibe to it with the wonderful lady vocals in the back and and the wonderful strings that are going on. This is one of the best songs on here for getting you zoned out whether you are stoned off your a** or not 10/10 Track 6 Show Business The features all perform extremely well on here with some monstrous drums and beat so groovy that it will have you snapping your neck to this hard. This is pretty much the perfect representation of everything that was right during the golden age. This is basically a rap cypher that is better than nearly any other one you have heard 10/10 Track 7 Vibes and Stuff Lives up to its name with providing one hell of a laid back vibe for you to get lost in. Another absolutely beautiful beat that is one of the chillest things that you will ever hear. Not much to say about Q-Tip other than saying that he k**s sh** like usual 10/10 Track 8 The Infamous Date Rape While the subject matter is pretty serious here and kind of sad, the beat is so upbeat with some really crisp drums that it is hard not to bounce your head hard to this. A little more subdued but still a great song 9.5/10 Track 9 Check the Rhime The horns on this are some of the freshest motherf**ers that you will hear. Also Phife might have his best performance on here with a super great verse and awesome back and forth trade offs with Tip. This is just one of those songs that has nothing but constant rapping and dope atmosphere 10/10 Track 10 Everything is Fair This has to be the song that makes me bounce around the most too. The Funkadelic sample that they lifted for this is absolutely fantastic. This joint has the best drumming on the album imo. The way the gunshots go into the hook is also fantastic. Everything about this song is perfect 10/10 Track 11 Jazz (We've Got) There is more of a constant almost droning feel to the beat on here until the slow and syrupy horns come in during the hook. Phife also manages to pull off the Jamaican accent at the start of his verse and also makes it sound good. This is the point in the album where your brain melting like bu*ter to the vibe 10/10 Track 12 Skypager Barely over two minutes long but it packs some pulse pounding drums and horns into this sh** to make you tired after its over. Short but awesome 9.5/10 Track 13 What? The most goddamned funky beat on both this album and ever tbr. Tip absolutely k**s this sh** with a super cool flow and some hard bars and punchlines that he just a**aults you with during the whole song. You don't have a soul if you don't bob your head to this 10/10 Track 14 Scenario The perfect conclusion to this cla**ic tape. Another hard tape that has some slamming drums and an amazing instrumental. Phife has the most insane flow to kick this off. The lesser known features even k** it, but top honors goes to Busta Rhyme's crazy a** on here 10/10 Final Verdict Well I said I usually don't give out perfect ratings to albums, but f** it I'm giving this a perfect score. Every song is amazing by itself, but when you put them together it creates what could be the best jazz rap album of all time. You know your project is good when it sounds like it could be a greatest hits compilation. The drums are flat out amazing and the jazzy and funkiness that you get from this creates an insanely happy vibe. This also has my favorite cover to an album ever too, so props for that 10/10
