Philip Butler - Foreword on Feminism lyrics

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie defines feminism as "a man or a woman who says, 'Yes, there's a problem with gender as it is today, and we must fix it, we must do better.'" Under her definition, I would believe I am a feminist. After my love for the Beyoncé song 'Flawless' had faded and later I would write a final research paper based around the short story 'SOLA' by Adichie; I went on with my summer, basking in my free time and switching to loathing in the hell of a full-time job as I prepared to gear up for the fall semester. Just earlier this week I learned that the sample from 'Flawless' was the same Adichie I had been so interested in. And now that I will potentially be on the E-Board of the CS club @ SU I want to make a few things clear to all "feminists". You don't have to be a CS major to know that space is the final frontier, space is important. That's why throwing resources at problems will not fix them; instead of bigger weapons, more soldiers, big stick diplomacy; we need security and positive relations. Reduce, reinvent, and extend the longevity of all humans given that they believe in universal human rights. THAT BEING SAID, on a more nano-level, abbreviation is OK, loquacious debaters will bring upon the end of the world, but what I believe to be very important to positive development of the world is CLARITY. As an extremely blessed Haitian-American, if I use the word 'h*mos**ual', it's likely I'm talking about a h*mos**ual. If I say 'no h*mo' after something that might indicate that I'm interested in men, it's because I'm heteros**ual. If you hear me slip out 'f*g' or 'retard', that's because it's slang for someone you don't like or someone who's slow at thinking respectively; it's a habit. If you hear me say 'n***a', it's probably because I'm talking to someone who I consider a brother of mine although we might not be blood related. If you hear me say 'n******g', it's probably because I'm talking about the history of slavery in America. If you hear me say 'b**h' or 's*ut', that's because I'm talking about someone who's complaining or is easy to get with, respectively. When I use these words, I never use them to bash all gays or women, I'm using them based on their connotation, not what you believe to be their denotation. So yes, I'm a feminist. I'm also a n***a, I can be a retard, sometimes I'm a huge f*g. I get irritated when I'm hungry and tired and turn into a HUGE b**h... and I'm definitely a s*ut sometimes... sorry fam! Sorry for paraphrasing, but I believe MLK Jr. once said something along the lines of "If you're going to sin, sin with pride!". Therefore, if you want to label me one of those things and say 'end-of-discussion' go ahead. Survival of the fittest my friends. And that includes women too.
