The Detroit Red Wings have been back and forth this year, leaving their fans to wonder what the year is going to bring and whether or not the playoffs are going to be something to look forward to. They've been slaughtered with injury after injury; most of their games have been played with at least 2 college level players in the line. Howard left due to a knee injury and returned with a poor performance (something you'd expect in a rookie's NHL debut). But the old Howard may be back and, fans, you may have more of something to look forward to when Detroit plays if they keep this up (43 games...took long enough!). The January 4th game against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center was one of the best games played this season. No doubt, Stars gave the Red Wings something to fight against, as well. The Stars had the first 12 shots on goal, Howard blocked every one of them. Shortly after, Detroit gets a break when Zetterberg sends a puck at the net. It's the first shot on goal by Detroit and it's in the net. The game ends in a beautiful result: Detroit Red Wings 5 Dallas Stars 1 Tomas Tatar measures up to the performance by Jimmy Howard in this game. He's done quite a few beautiful plays and Detroit can definitely be grateful for this 23-year-old's place on the team. He scored his 8th goal in the 2nd period of the game, somehow breaking a defensive line of 2 Stars skaters to send the puck into the net.
