Nancy Reyes - Creation in Greek lyrics

The Genesis and Greek creation stories are both similar and different in how they use literary archetypes. Both the Greek and genesis creation stories utilize the villain archetype. “Cronus swallowed each of his children as they were born “.This proves that Cronus is filling the role of the villain archetype. His lust of power is so great the he selfishly sacrifices his own children to keep the throne. “Cain had words with his brother. They were out in the field; Cain came at Abel his brother and k**ed him”. This shows that Cain is following the role of a villain archetype. Cain was jealous of his brother, so to get rid of Abel, Cain k**ed him. These examples show both stores using the villain archetype. The Greek and genesis creation stories also contrast, with the former having an epic battle or father/son and the latter a garden archetype. “Uran*s was a bad father and husband. He hated the Hecatoncheires. He imprisoned them by pushing them into the hidden places of the earth, Gaea's womb”. This proves a father/son archetype between Uran*s and his sons in the Greek. Uran*s wanted to be the only powerful one there. “Earth, green up! Grow all varieties of seed-bearing plants, every sort of fruit-bearing tree.” God was trying to prove that earth is a beautiful place with plants and trees. To help each other out, “The Cyclopes provided Zeus with lightning bolts for weapons. “In the Greek creation during the battle Cyclopes helps Zeus with giving him weapons to fight. Both Creations show garden, father/son and epic battle archetype.
