N/A - The Hood Is Down lyrics

[Verse 1:] The hood is down Whatever happened to this side of town We get no visitors, the mail man won't even make his rounds This once good neighborhood, gotten so out of bounds Daylight to Nightlight constant gun sounds Every block is surround by n***as that hell bound Got little kids afraid to go play on the playground They traded their Playgrounds for war-zones The Environment is a prison, full of teens with no intervention, That don't think before making decisions or blink when the world craving their attention Lack of Activity's and ability's led them astray toward a pathway of doing such negativity's, Which in result have them blind to see there's possibility in positivity Badly but sadly only 10% would probably make it out That's like growing 200 tomatoes but Only 10% would barely Escaped the drought Savages rather shoot it out than talk it out Hell, even the residents barely try to plan something out. They rather not snitch and watch the violence sprout other than trying to regain the neighborhoods clout Now some will see my intellect on this subject as disrespect and Neglect the message i'm trying to dialect When they realize there's more than meet the eyes Then they'll be surprise and ask themselves "how can one little street can swallow so many lives" Its sad what my neighborhood has become, They thinking violence is the outcome to solve their problem They terrorize the streets, immobilize the weak, Idolize the lies rappers speak Fantasize about blasting someone with the heat, but cry and snitch when face with defeat Where are the leaders to lead theses sheep's Wheres the mentors to strengthen these minds that's weak I wonder what my old friends doing now I haven't seen my team ever since they was caught up with the lifestyle I wonder if they ever'ed ponder, thinking was it even worth while Just to think how everyone and everything in the hood was supreme Now when i drive by all I see is abandoned homes, fragile lives and shattered dreams This is why I frown when I ride around my hometown Seeing how quickly the hood has fallen down
