Mr. Varnell - Creation essay lyrics

The Genesis and Greek creation stories are both similar and different in how they use literary archetype. One archetype both stories share is villain. Both the Greek and Genesis creation stories utilize the villain archetype. “Cronus swallowed each of his children as they were born”(Greek Myth). This proves that Cronus is filling the role of the villain Archetype. His lust for power is so great that he selfishly sacrifices his own children to keep the throne. “God knows that the moment you eat from that tree, you'll see what's really going on”(The Genesis). Eve thought she would be just like god. These examples show both stories using the villain archetype. One archetype that is different for each story is the Father/son rivalry and the garden archetype. “This gives Zeus time to slip Cronus the special prepared drink”(Greek Myth). Zeus is playing the role of Father/son rivalry. Zeus special prepared drink made Cronus vomit up the kids he ate. “God named sky Heavens”(The Genesis). Heaven is the garden Archetype. Nothing bad can happen in the garden of heaven. The Greek story shows Father/son rivalry and Genesis story shows the garden archetype.
