Math Genius - Order of Operations lyrics

There are five basic operations in arithmetic. Addition Subtraction Multiplication Division Exponents You already know how these work: you could tell me the answer to 2+2 or 36/4 or maybe even 4³. But when we combine all these operations together in a row, which one do you do first? The answer is simple: PEMDAS. You can remember it by pretending it stands for "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally." But here's what it really means: Parentheses Exponents Multiplication and Division (in the order they appear) Addition and Subtraction (in the order they appear) Don't make the rookie mistake that many prealgrebra students fall prey to. Always remember that in PEMDAS, M and D have the same priority, just like A and S have the same priority. In fact, I could write PEDMSA and still be correct (it just doesn't sound as cool). Easy enough, right? You should now be able to solve any numerical expression with these operations.
