In epic hero monomyths there are many good examples of heroes but there are many that aren't quite as useful. All heroes go through a journey to become a hero and that is how they are identified. These stories give good role models for people to follow today. Therefore, the epic hero monomyth is an important concept today as it is shown in Luke from Star Wars, Katnis from Hunger Games, and these epic hero monomyths provide good role models for todays society. To begin with, Luke is the correct example of the epic hero monomyth. Luke goes through a lot to become a hero, at first he was just a kid stuck on a boring farm. This is important because this represents the status quote stage ok Luke's journey. Luke was given a quest to help rescue a princess. This was the call to adventure on his journey to become a hero. He goes through many trials and approaches. Luck's downfall was when his master died; he got very depressed when his master died. This is an example of the crisis stage for Luke. Luke completes his quest and gets rewarded and in addition gets a new better life. Katnis is one of the perfect examples for the epic hero monomyth as well. As other heroes Katnis goes through the hero monomyth stages. In Katniss' story she was really poor and helped her family survive. This fact is important because it is the status quo stage of her journey. Katniss' call to adventure was during the reaping when her sister was called to be tribute and Katnis volunteered for her sister because she knew her sister was to week to be a tribute. Katnis goes through a lot of trials and approaches with the other tributes. She accomplishes her “call to adventure” and returns back to a new home. This is also an important part of her journey because it is the returning part of the hero monomyth. She now has a new better home and her family isn't as poor anymore they live in a big house and everything finally goes back to normal but in a better newer way. In my opinion, I think that Katnis is a better example of a hero than Luke is. She is a better example because she takes care of her family and provides food for them when she goes hunting with her bow and arrow. Luke was just a hero in an extremely non-realistic movie where none of what he did could actually happen. Katnis and Luke are similar in one stage which was the call to adventure stage they both had to go save someone. They have a couple of more things in common but the argument is still the same. To continue, Katnis didn't care if she didn't like where she lived she was grateful for what she had unlike Luke. She also had to face more trials, approaches, and defiantly much more crisis than what Luke had. Luke only saved the princess and destroyed the d**h star he didn't really teach us any good realistic morals. Katnis is a perfect and the best role model as an epic hero. Overall, the epic hero monomyth is important it is very useful. Between Luke and Katnis, Katnis is a better hero because she fills in the epic hero journey very well. Luke does too but Katnis does the best. All heroes go through the same epic hero monomyth journey; this is why it is important. It helps us identify the hero and give us the knowledge to knowing why this certain hero is a hero. I suggest reading more about heroes it is fascinating to watch them go through their journey.
