Krysten Ritter - AKA Take A Bloody Number lyrics

OPENING CREDITS Black screen, followed by an explosion sound. Cut to the street outside of Luke's, as a fire truck and police cars arrive, spreading around the recently exploded bar. Luke Cage and Jessica Jones are in a nearby corner. LUKE: I did it. I did everything he said. JESSICA: What exactly did he tell you to do? What were his exact words? His words, Luke. Repeat his words. LUKE: “Blow up your bar with you in it. Make sure Jessica sees it.” JESSICA:He didn't tell you to k** yourself, or “k** Jessica,” or anything else? CUT TO: OUTSIDE NIKU'S, THREE DAYS AGO Luke stands outside the restaurant of the last Kilgrave-related incidents. His voice is heard as a voiceover. LUKE: Two days ago, I followed you to a restaurant. [Kilgrave walks out along with his father Albert.] You didn't come out, but he did. Luke approaches Kilgrave. KILGRAVE: Stop! Who the hell are you? LUKE: Luke Cage. KILGRAVE: Tell me what you want. Quickly! LUKE: To k** you. KILGRAVE: Well, take a bloody number. Did Jessica tell you to do this? LUKE:No. I followed her here, thought she might lead me to you. KILGRAVE: Oh, great. Just great. Get in the sodding car. Go on. Luke gets on the car, it drives away KILGRAVE: I didn't k** your silly wife. Jessica did. All I wanted was Reva's copy of that video. What was I supposed to do, allow someone to expose me? LUKE:Yes. KILGRAVE: Oh, shut up! [silence ensues] How do you know Jessica? LUKE: We were lovers. KILGRAVE: [stutters] What was it, a pity shag? LUKE: No. There's... something between us. KILGRAVE: But she lied to you. LUKE: Yes. Then she told me everything. KILGRAVE: Oh, look at that, Dad. Jessica being honest with someone. Tell me the truth, did you bugger my chances with her? LUKE:No. You screwed that up yourself. KILGRAVE: I'll have to think of a fitting response to that. Angry looks are shared before the flashback ends CUT TO: STREET Jessica looks lost having heard that JESSICA:You're done. It's over. LUKE: Over? The only thing I had left of Reva was inside those four walls. JESSICA: I'm sorry.Does Kilgrave know about your skin? LUKE: No. It's not the kind of thing people think to ask. JESSICA:Good. He thinks you're dead. Do you know where he is now? LUKE: I can't be here. Luke starts walking towards his bike JESSICA:They're gonna want to question you. Your bar just blew up. LUKE: Not mine. Reva made sure my name wasn't anywhere on that paperwork. JESSICA:Where are you going? LUKE: I don't know. Jessica sits behind Luke and puts on her helmet. JESSICA:All right. Let's go. Luke starts the bike] Cut to: JESSICA'S APARTMENT Jessica opens the door, she and Luke enter the place that still looks like a Nuke came off after Jessica and Trish fought with Simpson. JESSICA:Sorry about the mess. LUKE: At least it's not on fire. JESSICA: Guess we're both lousy renters. LUKE: Do I need to know what happened here? JESSICA:Nope. LUKE: I was a fool. I didn't believe you about him. Not enough. JESSICA:I wasn't trustworthy. Doesn't make you a fool. LUKE: Trying to catch him does. [Both sit side by side on a couch] JESSICA:When I, uh...When he made me... k** Reva... I didn't realize it at the time, but I think it severed the hold he had on me. He can't control me. Not anymore. LUKE: You're free of him... because of Reva? JESSICA:Maybe. LUKE: So, because you didn't want to k** her... you were able to push him out. JESSICA:He could've told you to blow me up along with the bar. But he wanted you hurt, not dead. Not yet, anyway. LUKE: But you can k** him. JESSICA:That's my plan. LUKE: I'm gonna help. JESSICA:That depends on how long it's been since you've seen him. How many hours? LUKE: Six, maybe seven. JESSICA: You need to hit the 12-hour mark with no Kilgrave. [sighs] Take the bed. LUKE: I'm good here, you take it. JESSICA: I don't plan on sleeping. I have a police scanner app. Kilgrave leaves a trail. LUKE: And you want to keep an eye on me. JESSICA:Just in case you've been ordered to do something that I didn't think to ask. LUKE: I'll take the bed. [Sighs] [Luke leaves, Jessica turns on the police radio app. As she gets the headphones, she gazes at Luke taking off his shirt] Cut to: OUTSIDE CLUB [Kilgrave and Albert get out of a club] KILGRAVE: A hundred feet. You call that improvement? ALBERT: [sighs] That's up from 80. The changes are incremental, not exponential... KILGRAVE: I haven't got time for incremental, Dad. Jessica is trying to k** me now. ALBERT: Well, we won't know if you can control Jessica without Jessica. All we can test for is time and distance. KILGRAVE: Well, my distance is piss-all. You hear the hecklers in the back row? ALBERT: “Get off the stage, a**hole.” KILGRAVE: I didn't ask you to recount it. [A clubber also walks out and goes to Kilgrave] CLUBBER: Yo, you crushed it in there, man. That was like anti-rock... KILGRAVE: Stop talking. [guy does so] Dad, tell me. Are you doing everything that you possibly can? ALBERT: Yes. KILGRAVE: sh**. [to the clubber] Cross the street, face that fence, and stay there forever. [He walks off-screen] ALBERT: Kevin, be reasonable. KILGRAVE: Well, it won't actually be forever, because it's incremental, not exponential, remember? Come on, you've got work to do. [The two] Cut to: JESSICA'S APARTMENT [Luke sleeps in bed, while Jessica is on the phone] JESSICA:They're releasing you? TRISH: They were just keeping me for observation. So, how can I help you? JESSICA:Rest. TRISH: And? JESSICA:You can triple down on your home security system. [Cut to Trish in her hospital room, which is now full of flowers and balloons] TRISH: Somebody already got in. The two dead guys are gone. My doorman said somebody cleaned the whole place up. JESSICA: Wish they would've done that over here. They just took Simpson and left. TRISH: Do you think he's still alive? JESSICA:I don't know. TRISH: [sighs] He was a good guy. JESSICA:No, he wasn't. TRISH: He was, before those d** turned him into Godzilla. Listen, I've been asking around here. Simpson's doctor works for a private research corporation called IGH. Which is an acronym for nothing. It doesn't exist. No web page, no contact number, nothing. JESSICA:Please, Trish. I can only fight one Big Bad at a time. TRISH: Of course, let's get Kilgrave first. JESSICA:Okay, I'll keep you posted. TRISH: Sounds good. Bye. [Trish turns off the phone, and the room's door creaks. She grabs a knife from a nearby table.] TRISH: Simpson? Who's out there? [Trish's mother Dorothy walks in with flowers] DOROTHY: Sorry. You were on the phone. I didn't want to barge in. TRISH:Just eavesdrop. [Dorothy enters the room, places her flowers] DOROTHY: [scoffs] Okay. Off to a great start. Jesus, who sent carnations? TRISH: What are you doing here, Mother? DOROTHY: Well, I was worried. You've never missed a show. So when Trish Talk got preempted this morning, I... TRISH: You listen to my show? DOROTHY: Well, of course. I'm afraid I berated your station manager into telling me where you were. TRISH: You're good at verbal abuse. DOROTHY: The nurse told me you took something. TRISH: I'm fine. DOROTHY: Hmm? TRISH: I didn't relapse. I'm fine. DOROTHY: Good. That's good. You know, I would listen to Trish Talk even if you weren't my daughter. You're so smart, incisive... TRISH: I don't need your approval, Mother. DOROTHY: Well, tough sh**. You got it. People still look up to you. I get calls about you all the time. TRISH: I'm not your client. DOROTHY: As you made abundantly clear years ago, to me, privately, publicly, internationally... TRISH: I didn't want you getting your claws into another starlet. DOROTHY: Fair enough. I was a god-awful mother back then. TRISH: And not now? DOROTHY: How would I know? You never gave me another shot at it. TRISH: I'd like you to leave now. DOROTHY: Fine. I'll just... scream at some nurses on the way out, to lift my spirits. [Dorothy leaves] Cut to: JESSICA'S APARTMENT [Luke walks towards Jessica] JESSICA: You can help yourself to...[she looks at the kitchen] Well, there's nothing. There's a decent pizza joint on the corner. LUKE: You got a lead? JESSICA: A theory. LUKE: You said 12 hours. It's been 14. His control is over. JESSICA: Unless you run into him. LUKE: [sighs] Trust me. We get close, I'm out of there. I got no interest in being used by him again. JESSICA: You could walk away right now, find another bar, a new place to live. This could all be over for you. LUKE: That who you think I am? JESSICA: I think you're someone who's trying to survive... who keeps hidden what he needs to hide, and I don't need to know what that is. But going after Kilgrave, there's... no hiding there. LUKE: I want him dead... same as you. Until that happens... I'm with you. [Jessica nods in approval, and leads Luke out of the apartment] Cut to: STREET [Outside the apartment building.] LUKE: So what's your theory? JESSICA: He's trying to increase his power so he can control me. LUKE: So, how does he get it? JESSICA: I don't know, but he's keeping his dad alive for some reason. LUKE: Maybe Kilgrave thinks Albert can improve upon his original work. LUKE: You can't improve on an a**hole by making it bigger. [Malcolm pa**es by with his suitcases] JESSICA: Hey, where you going? MALCOLM: Away from you. Hey, man, take it easy. I'm speaking truth, man. It's okay, he's been through a lot. LUKE: Yeah, we all have. MALCOLM: Don't talk about me in the third person. I'm standing right in front of you. [scoffs] I'm going home, Jessica. I'm glad. No, you're relieved. MALCOLM: I could have died with my parents still thinking that I was all the things that he made me. I broke their hearts, but you know what? I'd rather face their pain and anger than this loneliness that I feel around you. [Jessica gets saddened, but then sits on the back of Luke's bike] Cut to: HOTEL ROOM JESSICA: It's a long shot, but this is where I found Albert last time. LUKE: Rough life, hiding from your homicidal son. JESSICA:I doubt Kilgrave let him come back for clean underwear. LUKE: We're looking for something in particular? JESSICA: Nope. That's how we find something. [The hotel manager appears at the open door] H.MANAGER: What the hell are you doing in here? You want a room, go to the front desk. This ain't an open house. JESSICA: You rented this room to Albert Thompson. He's gone. We're just here to pick up his stuff. H.MANAGER: He stiffed me on the bill. You gonna pick that up, too? LUKE: We'll just take what we need and be on our way. H.MANAGER: Don't belong to you. I sold it all. Lab equipment's very popular on eBay. Lots of thrifty meth cooks out there. So, unless you wanna help me pack this sh** up... JESSICA: We could just kick her a**. Would that be wrong? LUKE: Tough call. H.MANAGER: It's too bad them chemicals he had don't have any recreational use. JESSICA:Chemicals? H.MANAGER: [pointing] Those boxes.sh** weighs a ton. [Jessica tries to get to the boxes, the manager blocks her] H.MANAGER: Fifty bucks. JESSICA:You just said they were worthless. H.MANAGER: Worth somethin' to you. [Jessica and Luke stare at each other. He then grabs the lady and lifts her out of the way] H.MANAGER: Whoa, whoa! [Jessica check the boxes, labeled] JESSICA:Nah, just the basics. Saline, boric acid, rubbing alcohol... [grabs a vial] And something... unpronounceable. H.MANAGER: It's an adeno-a**ociated viral compound. It's used for genetic brain disorders. I looked it up. It's expensive sh**. Hard to come by. You know who wants to buy it? No one. JESSICA:Well, I'm sorry for your loss. It's a local bio-chem lab. LUKE: Hmm. Worth a look-see. Cut to: OUTSIDE ZALK [Luke is atop nearby rooftop, witnesses Jessica pushing a scientist towards the fence outside Zalk] SCIENTIST: I don't know anything. Please. [as the scientist goes back, Jessica sighs and goes up the stairs to meet Luke] LUKE: He was here? JESSICA: Twice. Cleaned them out of that AAV1 sh**. He's coming back for more. LUKE: Is that why that guy was in such a hurry to get back to work? JESSICA:When Kilgrave tells you to work nonstop, you literally work nonstop. Place smelled like piss and sh**. Couple of them had fainted. LUKE: sh**. JESSICA:Hey, all we can do is wait, okay? [Silence.] JESSICA: They say that... talking about a trauma... that it helps. That and jogging. Two things that make me feel like crap. [More silence] LUKE: I stood there at the bar, waiting... smelling the gas, thinking... “Put down the lighter. Walk out before you destroy everything you and Reva worked for.” But I couldn't do it. I was wrong... for blaming Reva's murder on you. For calling you a... What I called you. JESSICA:It's okay. LUKE: I got no right to offer this, but... JESSICA:Don't apologize. I don't want that from you. LUKE: How 'bout... I forgive you... for everything. And I'll say it every day for as long as you need to hear it. Cut to: TRISH'S APARTMENT [the door knocks. Trish goes checking who is there, it's Dorothy.] TRISH: Did you see a doorman out there? DOROTHY: I did. He said you have imaginary dead bodies in your apartment? TRISH: [Stammers] He drinks. DOROTHY: Ah. Well, I have something for you. [shows an envelope reading "IGH"] TRISH: [scoffing, muttering, and then opening the door] Damn it. DOROTHY: Oh! You always did have good taste. [chuckling] Expensive, but good. TRISH: Where'd you get it? DOROTHY: Oh, no foreplay, huh? TRISH: Ugh, Jesus, Mother. DOROTHY: You know, I really wasn't eavesdropping when I saw you this morning, until I heard you say “IGH.” You know how I always keep meticulous files, and never throw anything away. TRISH: In case you have to use it against somebody later. DOROTHY: Ha! [sighs] Here. [chuckles as she delivers the envelope] TRISH: You want something. DOROTHY: You're right. I want a relationship with my daughter. Any relationship. And this is me trying to earn back your trust. I should have shared it earlier, I know, but you and Jessie were just so young. TRISH: Jess? DOROTHY: Yeah. [Trish opens the envelope, checks on the files] TRISH: Jess' medical bills. DOROTHY: From her accident. Came with her files when I adopted her. Check out who paid them. TRISH: IGH. DOROTHY: I figured it was a charitable write-off for them. TRISH: Did they know about her abilities? Did you tell them? DOROTHY: God, no! Jessie threatened to, quote, “tie my earlobes to my brain” if I ever said anything to anyone. And that threat still stands, by the way. TRISH: And you never thought to ask if they did something to her? DOROTHY: Why would I? It was already done. [Trish sighs] There may be more. You're welcome to come home and go through all my files. TRISH: It's not home for me anymore. DOROTHY: Well, it is as far as I'm concerned. And besides, everyone would love to see you. Remember Sabrina? She just asked about you. In fact, she's looking for someone to endorse her bottled water division. And for every bottle sold, they give water to places that need it. One for one. TRISH: I'd forgot how good you were. DOROTHY: You also forget that one-room apartment we used to live in. You don't piss on money, Pats. It's an insult to those of us who had none. TRISH: [upset] Thank you for the information. I'd like you to go now. DOROTHY: The files will still be waiting for you. [Dorothy walks out of the apartment] Cut to: OUTSIDE ZALK [Jessica sleeps on Luke's shoulder, and the half-asleep Cage awakens as he sees a cab stopping ] LUKE: Someone's coming. [someone steps out of the taxi] JESSICA: [sighs] Damn it. That's not Kilgrave. LUKE: No one's been in or out all day. JESSICA: Then we follow this guy. Good chance he's our courier. [the man leaves Zalk, enters the cab, engine starts] Cut to: CENTRAL PARK JESSICA: Kilgrave could be in there. LUKE: Do what you gotta do. [Jessica follows the courier, with her path obstructed by a man blowing a huge soup bubble.] JESSICA: That is not cool. [The stalking continues, with Jessica's path eventually being obstructed by a family] JESSICA: Breeders. [Near the the courier, now empty-handed, grabs a nearby pair of hedge shears] JESSICA: Hey! Stop! Stop! [Jessica runs towards the Courier] CITY WORKER: Hey! Hey, you can't take those! [as Jessica runs towards the courier, he puts the shears on his mouth and starts to fall towards them] JESSICA: No! WORKER: Oh, Jesus! [The man is impaled. Jessica takes his pulse, and a girl screams. People start to gather around the body, Jessica checks the courier's pockets, and then gets up] JESSICA: I'm gonna go find a cop. Someone call 911. Cut to: JESSICA'S BUILDING [Jessica and Luke are in the elevator] LUKE:Kilgrave still needs the chemicals. Means his dad hasn't cracked the upgrade yet. JESSICA: Well, it's a matter of time before he does, and that's when the real sh** show starts. He'll be able to control people through buildings, walls, the radio. “Hey, New York, go to the highest building and jump.” LUKE:Hey, hey, hey, hey, it's gonna be okay. [the elevator arrives at the floor, and as they approach the apartment, Trish is waiting outside] JESSICA: Hey. What are you doing here? You should be in bed. TRISH: I'm fine. I was just, um... checking in on your search. JESSICA: Well, we're screwed and out of leads. Are you sure that's all? TRISH:“We”? LUKE: I'm helping her take Kilgrave out. TRISH: She usually refuses help. LUKE: I'm uniquely qualified. TRISH: Uh, Trish Walker. LUKE: Luke Cage. TRISH: Jess didn't, uh, mention you to me... JESSICA: He's a friend. TRISH: Who knows about Kilgrave. LUKE: I found out the hard way. TRISH: I'm sorry. JESSICA: [to Luke]Can you give us a sec? [Luke opens the door to Jessica's place] LUKE: My wife was a big fan of your show. TRISH: Thank you. It's lovely to meet you. LUKE: Likewise. [Luke enters, Trish mouths "Wow!"] TRISH: Okay, his wife? JESSICA: She's dead... All right, I k**ed her. TRISH: Wait, that's Reva's husband? [Jessica shushes her] You're sleeping with Reva's husband? JESSICA: No, I'm not sleeping with him. Not anymore. [sighs] And what's going on? What's in your bag? TRISH: It can wait. JESSICA: Clearly not, or you wouldn't have walked all the way over here. TRISH: Look... it's not gonna change how you find or k** Kilgrave. But it's important. JESSICA: Yes, and private. TRISH: So if you didn't have company, then... JESSICA: Ugh! It's not like you're interrupting some romantic interlude. TRISH: Why not? JESSICA: 'Cause people are dying. TRISH: Look, he obviously has feelings for you, and you definitely have feelings for him. JESSICA: I do not. TRISH: Please, the chemistry was jumping off of the two of you. [elevator dings] And you can't say he's not hot. JESSICA: [sighs] Fine, he's hot. And if Kilgrave weren't trying to k** me... TRISH: You'd push him away like everybody else. JESSICA: I can't think about that right now. TRISH: Okay. But just... [sighs] When this is over, when you win this thing, I... I hope you finally allow yourself some happiness. [Trish enters the elevator] Cut to: JESSICA'S APARTMENT [Luke is on the phone] LUKE: Yeah, man, I'm sorry. Yeah. Yeah. [Jessica searches all her drawers for booze] JESSICA: sh**. LUKE: Yeah. [sighs heavily] Okay, buddy, I'll talk to you later. Yeah. [turns it off] Had to tell Roy his bartending job blew up. He's gotta find a new gig.[sighs]And the hits keep on coming. [Jessica sits on her desk] JESSICA: He'll be all right. LUKE: There's always work for a good bartender. [Jessica opens the desk's drawer, takes the yellow flash drive out] JESSICA: [sighs] This belonged to Reva. When she told you to dig up that basement, this is what she wanted you to find. There's videos on it. Experiments on kids. Kilgrave was one of them. Lot of other files, but I didn't open them. It was meant for you. [Jessica gives it to Luke] LUKE: For security. To protect me. Do you mind if I use your shower? JESSICA: Sure, take your time. [as Luke goes to the bathroom, Jessica finds a bottle and starts to open it] Cut to: CORRIDOR [Malcolm is closing his old apartment. Sees Jessica with the bottle in her place, and eventually walks towards the elevator. As he prepares to press the bu*ton, Malcolm hears Robyn's voice, as she argues with a woman] ROBYN: Oh, this is not your job, spying on people! WOMAN: Ma'am, nobody is spying on anyone. ROBYN: You are spying! You are spying! You were going and looking at people! WOMAN: I'm trying to find the right apartment. MALCOLM: sh**. [Malcolm arrives near Robyn's place, sees the other woman is a postal carrier] ROBYN: You're not trying to find the right apartment... Snap out of it, sister! Don't let him control you! CARRIER: What the hell is wrong with you? ROBYN:Don't let him control you. Wake up! MALCOLM: Robyn, stop it! Stop it! ROBYN: She is one of Kilgrave's drones. CARRIER: She is crazy. ROBYN:She is lurking in the halls in the dead of night. CARRIER: It's 6:00! This is my last delivery! ROBYN:She was spying on me for Kilgrave. CARRIER: I didn't know the apartment number. ROBYN:Is there a camera in your little machine? CARRIER: Stop it. ROBYN:Spill the beans! MALCOLM: Hey, hey! Stop it! Just let me see that. ROBYN:If there is a severed body part in that box... CARRIER: What? ROBYN: ...of any kind, I'm going to be very upset. MALCOLM: It's for Ruben. [hands it to Robyn] CARRIER: I'm calling the cops. MALCOLM: No, she's probably just off her meds. CARRIER: This whack job is dangerous. MALCOLM: She just lost her brother. ROBYN:I didn't lose him. He's dead. MALCOLM: Please, this won't happen again. CARRIER: Whack job. [As she leaves, Robyn opens the package, finds a phone charger chord, and starts to cry as she sits on the floor] ROBYN:Ruben's chinchilla chewed through his charger cord two weeks ago. And I wouldn't let him pay for express shipping. [Malcolm also sits on the floor] MALCOLM: Ruben was such a great guy. He was kind and gentle, and... I don't know what he put in that banana bread but, [chuckles] it was like crack. Wait, was it crack? ROBYN: Nutmeg. I'm no good without him. MALCOLM: No, you're plenty good. ROBYN:People don't like me. They liked him. He's probably looking down on me now... so goddamn disappointed. [Robyn cries a bit more, Malcolm starts thinking] Cut to: KILGRAVE'S HIDEOUT [Kilgrave is on the balcony] KILGRAVE:It's unacceptable! She was a few feet away from me. [walking back inside] If she'd seen me, that's it, it's all over. I don't think you realize how vulnerable I was, how helpless. ALBERT: We've made progress. Longer times, longer distances. [Kilgrave sees a jar of yellow liquid] KILGRAVE:Thought you said this godforsaken slime was gonna expedite the process. ALBERT: It has. It's really quite extraordinary. The stem cells have inherited some of your genes. KILGRAVE:But will it work? ALBERT: Well, we need to do another test when it's ready. KILGRAVE: Why is it not ready now? ALBERT: Because I'm tired! If you'd let me rest, I could focus better. KILGRAVE: Dad... go to the blender. Turn it on. [the blender is turned on, as Kilgrave sees the picture of a boat] KILGRAVE: Nice boat. Lower your right hand in there. Slowly. [A scared Albert looks at his son] Go on, slowly. [the hand is near the blades] Stop there. Are you focused? [Albert nods positively] Still need a little nap time? [Albert nods negatively] [Kilgrave pulls the blender from the plug, shutting it off; then he walks away as Albert breathes heavily.] Cu to: JESSICA'S APARTMENT [Jessica is on her laptop while Luke leaves the bathroom wearing only a towel] LUKE: When I first got these powers, I took a trip to the junkyard. Started moving hunks of metal back and forth. Rusted out cars, busted stoves. Just to see what I could lift. JESSICA: You were taking your powers for a test drive. LUKE: Kilgrave might test himself out, too. JESSICA: I've been searching. Nothing is coming up. LUKE:If someone would see me, they says, “Where's the wires? Where's the hidden camera?” JESSICA: They'd think it was a hoax. LUKE:Hoax, magic, performance art. You try that sort of thing, yet? JESSICA: [typing] You bucking for a P.I. job? LUKE: “Horse fetishists in Central Park”? JESSICA: No, everyone knows about them. LUKE:Apparently. JESSICA: This one. LUKE:“Magic word is 'wa*kers'.” [Jessica opens a video on PickAxe with that title, featuring a female clubgoer] WOMAN:So, the band's on their last song, when this guy just walks out on stage. And the band's all, like, “What the hell?” And then this guy grabs the mic and says, [in British accent] “Shut up, you wa*kers.” And then, like, almost everybody in the whole place just shuts the hell up. JESSICA: If that's him, then the upgrade is working. The Delaney Hall holds 600 people. LUKE: Could be he can get to you now. JESSICA: Let's check their security cameras. See if one got him leaving. License plate, maybe. LUKE: I don't want you to...[grabs Jessica's arm] get hurt. JESSICA: Thank you. LUKE:I'll put some clothes on. Cut to: DOCK [Malcolm is leading Robyn to the place where he had dumped Ruben's body] ROBYN: If you're mind-controlled to drown me, I'm dragging you in too, fair warning. Look, broomstick, you're into me, it happens. Romantic backdrop, it's working. But I'm in mourning. MALCOLM: [sighs, then nods towards the water] You should talk to Ruben. ROBYN: He's here? You put him... with the fishes? [Robyn stares at the river] We're Pisces, you know. It's a water sign. You know what the symbol for Pisces is? It's two fishes... [clasps hands together] swimming together... in an infinite circle. Ruben and I used to say that's how we were in the womb. MALCOLM:I'm just... I'm so sorry. [sighs] ROBYN: Enough. [stares at Malcolm] Pisces are the most forgiving of the zodiac. MALCOLM:You forgive me? ROBYN: I've thought about breaking into your apartment and sticking a screwdriver into your eye. MALCOLM:Biblical. Eye for an eye. ROBYN: But the whole world goes blind. MALCOLM:So what, we should all just let everyone off the hook then, huh? ROBYN: [putting her hands on Malcolm's shoulders] Just the people that matter to you. That way when they die, you feel love... not regret. Here. [She hands one end of the phone charger to Malcolm. Both throw the thing at the water.] ROBYN: Goodbye, Ruben. I hope they have free express shipping in heaven. Cut to: STREET, NIGHT [Luke's bike stops outside a nightclub] JESSICA: Closed. Breaking and entering, my specialty. LUKE: As well as punching, kickin', drinkin' and talkin' sh**. JESSICA: The four essentials of being a P.I. [lights appear on the windows] LUKE: Not closed. Come back later? JESSICA: I got other specialties. [As they , the clubber who received Kilgrave's orders is still looking at the corner] Cut to: INSIDE CLUB [as Luke and Jessica walk in, the manager talks to them from the upper floor] MANAGER: Hey. Hey! We're closed. Get out of here. JESSICA: New York State Liquor Authority. Undercover. We got reports of underage drinking in here. MANAGER: We ID everyone at the door. JESSICA: Oh, including those underage high school girls doing shots of Jäger in the front row last night? MANAGER: Well, you got bad info. LUKE: Then you got nothing to hide. We need to see video of the show. JESSICA: You want a raid, you got it. MANAGER: All right, my office is up the back staircase. [Luke and Jessica enter the man's office, he hands Jessica money] MANAGER: Oh, you know, these days, the 20-somethings, they look 30. And the ten-year-olds, they look 20. LUKE: Why you looking at ten-year-olds, man? MANAGER: It's just a saying. JESSICA: No, it's not. [starts folding the money] MANAGER: What? Don't tell me the prices are goin' up. JESSICA: No, we're good. Still gotta see the video. MANAGER: I got better things to do. LUKE: We don't. [the man sighs and tries to put on the surveilance footage.
