Koda - Bring Back Real Rap lyrics

Verse 1 (ROC): I gotta speak what's on mind, let you know what's in my head, cuz honestly something really needs to said. Modern rap music kinda drives me insane, cuz all these rappers ever talk about is dealing c**aine. It's been 42 years since 1973, and the state of hip hop ain't where it's supposed to be. We should have progressed, but instead we've gotten worse. All this explicit content is equivalent to dirt. Claiming you're a tough guy, AC Slater. But like Lecrae said, y'all a bunches of fakers. Spreading all these lies like you ain't heard of the truth, and you don't care that you're poisoning the minds of the youth. It sickens me, cuz it's going kinda far, I don't care about your money, or your clothes, or your cars. Y'all are fools, I hate to say it but it's true. I don't wanna call you out, it's just what I gotta do Hook (2x): Throughout the last couple of years, rap's gone downhill, and it brings me to tears. All these guy's talk about is snorting blow in the trap, that's why I've made my mission to bring back real rap Verse 2 (Koda): What's up with all these rappers, all they talk about is s**, or money, or d**. It's all just a mess. The lyrics are absurd, the message is shoddy. Seems like all they care about is a new Bugatti. But I don't really care cuz that don't persuade my thoughts. To bring back real rap, man that's a long shot. I miss the meaning of the song that made a real connection, but every song now, it's all just repetition. They get caught up in the money and shun all their morals. With 17 cars, man that's just not normal. Back in ‘96 when 2Pac was legit, let's take it back to that man and make this new stuff quit. The presence of God should all been in their hearts. If you don't agree with me, I'm sorry there sport. It's all about the message, not about the money. Let's bring back real rap and keep this beat going like uh (Repeat hook) Verse 3 (ROC): Quality's a concept that seems to have died, that's why I'm doing my best to try to keep it alive. There's just too much negativity in hip hop today, I'm finna do all that I can to make it go away. It might not work, might not even cause a dent, but I'm so opinionated so I need to vent. Otherwise I might go into overload, getting some bottled up with emotions that my head explodes. Please don't think that this song is a diss, but when it comes to lyricism it's a hit and miss. You can either let the truth unfurl, or you can brag about the unholy things of the world. As for me, I'll pick option 1, even though option 2 might sound like fun. Earthly happiness only lasts for so long, I'm trying to spread something better with the words in my songs (Repeat hook)
