Annually there would be two tributes chosen to participate in the games. Children between the ages of 12 and 18 are chosen at random. While the kids get together Katniss sister Primrose is chosen. Selflessly Katniss volunteers so that her younger sister wouldn't be brutally k**ed. Katniss and Peeta where the tributes to district 12. Their adventure starts when they get on the train where they meet their mentor Haymitch district twelves only Victorian. He helped Katniss train for the hunger games and told her how to survive. He had a lot of knowledge prior to the games. Haymitch started to sober up a bit when he realized that Katniss and Peeta had a chance of winning. Katniss Everdeen is escorted to the train station and boards a train to the Capitol. She leaves her home and family in district 12 to go to the Capitol for the start of The Hunger Games. When she arrives at the capitol it is as if she has steps into an entirely new world. The Capitol is much different from her small coal dusted district. Everyone is in bright color and colorful wigs adorn their heads. Before the games begin and they are put in to training until the games start. In the training Katniss is struggling with the weapons and find it difficult to be practicing with the very people she may end up k**ing in the end. When her archery is off she is struggling to make a good impression on the sponsors. Sponsors are the people that help their favorite tribute when the games begin . Its finally the day of the Hunger Game. Katniss is really anxious because she has no idea what can happen or who will die. She concerned if she's able to keep her promise to her sister about coming back home. The main crisis is the game is controlled by the Capitol people, they saw Katniss being smart and fighting hard and wanted to make it harder for her. Katniss underwent many injuries during the battle and one challenge was burn down her leg when the game makers decided to start a fire and trap her in. They sent many fireballs at her and she got burnt. In the end they still had it out for her and tried making her survival even more difficult. At the end Katniss was successful in her battles but because she felt as if she owed Peeta something she refused to let him die. Because of this the game makers said that if you and a member from your district are still alive they both can be named the victors. Katniss was fighting to keep someone close to her alive. Katniss and Peeta get to where they started and since the people controlling the game had changed the rule to that the partner would win the game. Well Katniss and Peeta where the only partners left but Cato was still alive. So Cato tried to k** them and then grabbed Peeta to k** him. Katniss outsmarts Cato and shoots him on the hand with the arrow and Peeta pushes him off and Cato gets eaten by the monster. Katniss returns home after the hunger games are over. Katniss and Peeta are crowned victors. They take a train from the Capitol back to sector 12. She and Peeta are still pretty traumatized from the arena so they don't really say much. But they are still kind of excited to go back home to see their families. Katniss is thankful that she can now return home to help her family in the absence of her father. After his d**h she took it as her responsibility to look after her mother and sister. And now she has returned with a wealth of food and she will no longer have to worry about feeding her family as much. Even though she's home now she's still traumatized by the games. She and Peeta are still wary of what is to come in the future, but basically they are getting back to their normal lives with each other's help.
