Jaclynn_m - Experiment 5 lyrics

Page 87 – Exercise 2 Lyla was sitting at the kitchen eating her lunch while her mom cut out coupons for the grocery store. Lyla was four going on fourteen and had the day off from preschool. She loved when she had the day off from preschool. She could hang out all day with her mom. Sometimes her mom would take her to the park, sometimes she would take her to Mommy and Me, and today she was taking her to the grocery store. Lyla wasn't the biggest fan of the grocery store. She would rather go to the park and play with the other kids, but the grocery store was way more fun than going to preschool. And sometimes, her mom would even buy her toys at the grocery store. But today, she could tell that her mom wasn't in the best mood. Earlier she heard her talking on the phone with someone from her older brother's school. She couldn't understand everything that her mom was saying, but it didn't sound good. After that phone call, her mom was quieter than usual. After her mom cut out all the coupons, they were off to the grocery store. Lyla was still dressed in her princess tutu from this morning when she was playing house with her neighborhood friend so she wore it to the grocery store. She walked down each aisle with her mom as she dropped different types of food and drinks in the cart. She thought there would be no end to this grocery store until they finally hit the toy aisle. Lyla's mom usually always let's her get something from the store, so Lyla threw in a princess tiara that she saw hanging on the shelf. But that didn't go very well, once her mom saw the tiara, she immediately told Lyla to put it back. She told her that she isn't allowed to put things in the cart without asking. As Lyla always does, she threw a fit. She was so upset. She was a princess and believed she deserved the tiara. She continued to scream, yell, and stomp through the aisles so everybody had their eyes on her. Her mom still wasn't budging. She knew she had to get the tiara. She couldn't go home without it. She then fell to the ground and started yelling and screaming. The people trying to grocery shop were horrified. They had never seen a more ungrateful child before in their life. Lyla's mom was embarra**ed. She knew she didn't raise her child to be like this. She was mortified. She told Lyla to get up and act like a respectful young girl. Only Lyla didn't listen, once again. She screamed and screamed, “I want the princess tiara.” This went on for a few more minutes when Lyla's mom finally gave up. She couldn't get her shopping done, let alone control both of her own children. Lyla's mom quietly told her to go pick out the tiara and put it in the cart. Lyla was flabbergasted. She got what she wanted! She got her princess tiara! She knew her mom would eventually give in, after all, she always gets a toy when they go to the grocery store.
