In addition to his blues-rock-inflected Southern Gentlemen, shred-guitar legend David T. Chastain busied himself near the turn of the millennium with Zanister, a band which fit neatly into the revival of melodic, prog rock-tinged power metal (think Judas Priest or Iron Maiden) gaining favor in some headbanging circles. Chastain was joined by guitarist Michael Harris, his brother Brian Harris on drums, ba**ist James Martin, and lead vocalist Brian Sarvela (also of the Reign of Terror). Zanister debuted on record in 1999 with Symphonica Millennia; the follow-up, Fear No Man, was released in early 2001. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
