Heroes, which hero do you think deserves the title “Epic Hero”. In this essay I will be discussing Luke's epic Monomyth, Batman's Monomyth, and which one deserves the title “Epic Hero”. What they have in common, their differences and explain why their hero like attributes should put them to this role. Luke fulfils the hero monomyth because he's brave, fearful, and strong toward the end of the story. For example, Luke is a young teenager who lives on a farm bored and wants to do something more exciting. This is important because it captures the stage of “The Status Quo”. Luke is found himself looking for R2D2 he encounters enemies and helped by Obi Wan, he learns the dangers of what lies beyond. This is quoting the stage of “Assistance”, by Luke being helped by Obi Wan. Lastly, Luke finally starts his epic journey by leaving to a**ist the princess. This is important because it represents “Departure”. Batman fulfils a lifetime hero monomyth because of his parent's d**h, being in prison, and being turned in to someone who is not just a hero but a good one at that. After Batman's tragic lose he embarks on this epic journey in search of the person who k**ed his mother and father. This is important because this represents “Call to Adventure and Assistance” because after his parents murder, he is called to become a great hero and is comforted and a**isted by albert to become the hero we know today. Batman also has faced many challenges and obstacles during this epic lifetime journey, he has been threatened and beat down, but he never gives up. These are “Trials” that he and many allies he has made over the years. Finally, at the end of the day he returns home with new knowledge of what dangers are in Gotham, but he fights for honor and justice. I feel Batman should be the epic monomyth hero. Batman is a better role model because he is more experienced and goes through the cycle every time he goes to fight bad guy, were as most heroes just go through the cycle once. Batman also started when he was just a small boy. Other heroes start much older. Batman and Luke share many traits and go through the epic monomyth but Batman is more like a fulltime epic hero, were as Luke is part time. So therefore Batman is a better role model and a better epic hero. In conclusion, many heroes are epic and many have all the steps to being an epic hero, but Batman is a better choice. The hero monomyth is important to understand because you man like one hero is better than the other or some have many things in common but to truly be an hero you must be a epic hero an only an epic hero can truly be understood, to when they started their journey to the end of their adventures.
