Kevin Coval: What the book tries to do is answer the question that James Baldwin talks about in his essay "The Price of the Ticket". When any ethnic group enters dominant American culture, they ascend or descend in the social economic ladder. If you're white, you have the ability to ascend via economy and skin privilege, so Jews in this country did just that. Part of what that meant is it severed our civil rights relationship you know post 50's/60's, and it also made sure that we entered and centered ourselves in white spaces
