Colombian Kraken started a local revolution in 1984 after singer Elkin Ramirez teamed up with Gonzalo Vasquez, Jorge Atehortua, and Hugo Restrepo to play songs about social issues related to Latin American people. In 1986, their first single was released, including "Todo Hombre Es Una Historia" and "Muere Libre." A year later, "Escudo y Espada" and "Soy Real" anticipated their self-titled debut album. Kraken II followed in 1989, featuring the hit single "Vestido de Cristal." In 1998, the band founded their own record label, called Athenea Producciones, issuing an EP titled El Idioma del Rock. Kraken's international debut came in August 2001 when Sony International released T.R.E.S. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
