Kimberly Cortez - Free Style Friday Paragraph lyrics

We have been learning about the topic sentence, Concrete Detail, concluding sentence, and commentary. A topic sentence is the first sentence of the paragraph, it shows the main idea. A topic sentence needs to address the requirements of the writing task. A concrete detail is the support for the topic sentence. Concrete details are based on logic, and evidence that supports your point. In CD you may use quotes, details, plot points, paraphrasing, or anything that comes from text. For every concrete detail you must have at least two supporting CM's. Commentary is your an*lysis, interpretation, explanation, or insight into text. Commentaries can be an*lysis, interpretation, character feelings, inferences, insights, or reasons. even though commentaries are opinions, it is important that the commentary explains how the concrete detail helps prove the writer's point. Some signal words or phrases a**ociated with CMs are this shows/proves that, this is important/significant because, therefore, it is obvious that, or this makes clear that. A Concluding sentence is what wraps up the paragraph and rephrases the main idea.
