Philadelphia emo quartet Kid Dynamite was formed in 1997 by ex-Lifetime guitarist Dan Yemin, who recruited ba**ist Steve Ferrel and drummer/fellow Lifetime co-founder David Wagenschutz for regular practice sessions which in time yielded a vocal-free demo ca**ette. With the addition of singer Jason Shevchuk, the group played their first live dates, and upon completing the demo signed to Jade Tree to issue their self-titled debut LP in 1998. Ferrel soon left Kid Dynamite, and with new ba**ist Michael Cotterman the quartet completed its sophomore album Shorter, Louder, Faster. Prior to the record's release, however, Shevchuk quit the band, and after playing a farewell show on February 19, 2000, Kid Dynamite dissolved. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
