Kaylah McGhie - Creation Story Essay lyrics

The Genius and Greek creation stories are both similar and different in how they use literary archetypes. Both the Greek and Genius creation stories share the hero archetype. While the battle was going on, “Hecatoncheires rained down hundreds of boulders with such a fury the Titans thought the mountains were falling on them. They broke and ran giving Zeus victory.”(Greek Creation), explains how Zeus was hero in the story. All heroes do good and always and never evil, and never walk away from a situation. Zeus, the hero, showed actions that no other Greek god can, he fought Giants and got an easy victory in the epic battle and showed he's the bravest Greek God out all the Greek Creation stories, yet showing he was the protagonist in the story. In the Genius creation story, have a hero archetype too. While creating earth, God spoke: “Light! “And light appeared. God saw that light was good and separated light from dark. God named the light Day, he named the dark Night. It was evening; it was morning day One.” explains how God, the hero, created light “Day” and dark “Night”. (Genius Creation). He created light and dark first because it's the two most important things in the earth that is needed. God showed he's the most incredible creator in life time. All things that God created was for a reason, he was trying to show what kind power he had and the abilities and actions that no other creator can do. Both stories have a situation and someone to solve the issue, which showed a presentation of a hero archetype. The Greek and Genius creation stories also have differences with the epic battle and sibling rivalry archetype. Because of the battle, “Zeus was cunning. He went down to Tartarus and freed the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires”. Prometheus joined Zeus as well. He returned to battle with his new allies.”(Greek Creation). This proves by Zeus and Prometheus battling proves that both of them is showing how they will fight to solve if they need a solution. Also, Zeus, the most mind-blowing fighter and leader, makes the battle the most critical event out of all the Greek stories. The heroes and the battle itself were reasonable. It showed ways the Greek gods get respect by fighting. Both had working brothers who was willing to share with God. Cain got irritated when “God liked Abel and his offering, but Cain and his offering didn't get his approval. Cain lost his temper and went into a sulk.”(Genius Creation), causing sibling rivalry between Abel and Cain. Cain got too jealous over nothing; he was wrong for thinking his fresh sheep was better for God. Abel was thoughtless to not see his own brother, Cain, was annoyed and angry at him. But, Cain was presenting how he was self-centered and wanted everything to be perfect for him. Both stories don't always share the same features or content all the time.
