Growing up I never knew I had any potential At school I was bullied, I'll tell you what I went through, People called me names, people never said I was cool, Which was why I never had a good time at school. Because I picked my nose and ate it and the other kids knew it. They called me 'bogey boy' and I had to live through it. But the teachers never questioned why I was playing truant, Because I just wanted to get out of there. Well the truth is I was depressed. Yeah I said it. Like the people whose pictures get posted on Reddit. Because they got caught with an awkward face in a photograph, Everybody laughs but we never think about the person behind the mask. Because if you're lonely as a kid, there's consequences You should be breaking down walls, not putting up fences. And if you feel like you've got no friends, that you're alone, And there's no-one who will pick up and talk on the phone, It can ruin your childhood, that's a terrible thing. And I know now very well what problems bullying brings. Yeah it takes a long time to work out those issues Whether it's with a pen, or an industrial sized box of tissues. But I picked myself up and I started working, Moving on a journey, not introverting, Overcoming all the barriers put up by bullies, Stopped telling myself I couldn't do it. Started pulling My finger out. Out of my nose. But also metaphorically, no more sticks and stones. I was better than them, I was more clever than them, Even if my fingertips were a bit wetter than them. I can see how far I've come, where I am, where I stand now, And what would all those bullies say if they could see who I am now? If they could see what I've done, knowing where I've come from, If they could see that I beat their words, see that I won, If they could see they would be steaming, seeing how I achieved freedom, And I'm doing the things I know that all of them were dreaming of... Because I'm a poetry student! Yeah, f** you haters, I'm on stage with my pages so I'll see you later. Got Shakespeare and T.S. Eliot in my clique Loads of English Literature b**hes on my dick. Bet you wish you hadn't mocked me now, bet that you're sorry if You know I'm on my way to being a Nobel Laureate. I'll use my platform here to cut you down to size, 'Cos while you're still cutting lines I'm heading for a Pulitzer Prize. I don't want to hear a half-a**ed apology, I'm going platinum with my latest anthology. You may have thought you were above me once, so now let me make it clear, I'll make it rain, I sold over 10 books last year. Look at you now, man, you're completely nameless A nobody, you've only got 100 friends on Facebook. And while you're struggling to hold your job in Walmart down, I'm writing lyrics for Macklemore, even though he keeps turning them down. But they got picked up by Chris Brown the other day, he thinks they're great! They're gonna be his biggest hit since Rihanna's face. As you can see I've got links in the industry, you know it, That's the rock and roll lifestyle, b**h, I'm a motherf**ing poet!
