Cathy Lynn Brazeel - April 8, 1998 lyrics

Sitting at home One dark and stormy night, Something outside was stirring Something wasn't right. The sirens started to blare Through our small town, Then came the most Horrible sound. An F5 tornado I heard the weather guy say, I couldn't believe it It was headed our way. The ground started to rumble The trailer started to shake, I couldn't believe my eyes This tornado wasn't fake. Everything went black The lights they went out, The trailer was lifted And I heard my mom shout. "Please let us make it Out of this horrible storm," And then suddenly it happened Up in the air we soared. We hit the ground hard I just laid there in pain, And suddenly it was over And all there was, was rain. I couldn't believe it was over The storm, it was so mean, And I closed my eyes tightly Hoping it was only a bad dream. When I opened my eyes again I was lying safely in bed, And all I had was a slight Concussion to my head. I looked around the room There were family and friends, And I started wondering to myself Where is my mom, sister and dad. They must have been hurt In this terrible storm too, They were probably in their own Hospital room. Then someone from the room Finally had something to say, I'll never forget the look They had upon their face. Through their tears they started to speak As they held onto my hand, They said in a very sad voice Your mom, dad, and sister are dead. I couldn't believe it How quickly life can change, Because in an instant Mine was rearranged. So cherish your parents And your siblings too, Because you'll never know when Their lives will be through.
