The epic hero monomyth is a twelve step cycle which almost all heroes go through. The epic hero monomyth is still an important concept today because it is shown in many stories such as Star Wars, Hunger Games, and shows how these characters in these stories are shown as a good person to follow today. Luke Skywalker fulfills the Epic Hero Monomyth in the most extraordinary way. Luke lived a normal teenage life just without his parents. He lived with his aunt and uncle on a farm. This is where he fulfills the status quo stage because he's doing nothing. Luke came across R2D2 who had a message from princess Leia who was in need of help. This is where he fulfills his call to adventure because Luke is leaving on a quest to rescue princess Leia. He left on his journey with Obi Wan Kenobi to rescue princess Leia, where Obi Wan is k**ed by Darth Vader. This is where he fulfills the crisis stage because his master is k**ed. Luke blows up the d**h star and is rewarded by princess Leia. This is where he fulfills the result stage because everything is done he can go home with his friends. Katniss is a perfect example for the Epic Hero Monomyth. Katniss starts off her life living in district 12. This fulfills the Status quo stage because she's living a normal life. Katniss then takes the place for her sister to go into the hunger games. This fulfills the call to adventure stage because she now has to go somewhere away from her district. Katniss has to avoid getting k**ed by the other contestants and the obstacles she's faced with. This fulfills the trials stage because she has to avoid getting k**ed and having to live off things in the hunger games. Katniss planned something with Petta so that it looks like they both died. This is the result stage because they didn't want to k** each other because they fell in love. In my opinion Katniss is the best role model for today. Katniss is the best role because she goes through the stages more in detail than Luke Skywalker does. For example Katniss is given a specific call to adventure where she is risking her life for her sisters. Another example is Katniss goes through more trials where she has to one avoid getting k**ed by the other contestants and trying to survive out in this world they were brought to. Both fulfill the Epic hero monomyth very well but in my opinion Katniss is a prime example of an epic hero. In conclusion both stories are a prime example of what an epic hero is, and shows how those type of people are a person that motivates to want to be like them. Luke Skywalker goes through all twelve stages which shows that he is an epic hero. Also Katniss from the Hunger Games is the same just goes through a more complex situation to becoming an epic hero. Finally an epic hero monomyth is important to understand because without knowing the stages or nothing how do you know if a person is a hero or not?
