[Verse 1]
Solemnly I often contemplate the total purposelessness of my own existence
But at the same time I'm thankful for this amazing gift
It's incredible, the depth of the spectrum of human experience
Clearly reflects all from cowardice to fearlessness
From sourness to warmth, from pa**ion to fury
Yet as the distinction between good and evil becomes blurry
The only thing I think that one could do is wonder or worry
About a comfortable way to die, living their life in a hurry
It seems unfair to me we're born without a say
All of us come into life like that and most of us go out that way
I shout with rage to somehow delay the clouded day the reaper comes
There doesn't seem to be a way around the fate
Your own demise is the one thing you could trust in
I find it simultaneously beautiful and disgusting
It's the one inevitability, regardless of objection or acceptance
It's set in stone; d**h begets perfection
[Hook]
But don't you cry 'cause every one of us is born to die
And even the brightest stars become extinguished relentlessly
The balance mustn't be disrupted, it's uninterrupted
Life is something everyone must relinquish eventually
In order to be born you have to die and that is why
We cling to things like afterlives and hope for multiple rebirths
We're so attached to that which happens and those that we've met
We hope to forget that our only destiny is leaving Earth
[Verse 2]
I hope you don't misinterpret it
Nothing's permanent, surely you've heard it all before and understand
The molten core up to the dirt on the surface
Will be reverted, deserted, even the sky residing above the land
Life is intertwined ineffably with d**h
Neither of the two are opposites, in fact they're both one in the same
Two sides of a coin, the negative, the positive
I'd bet it's never possible to have the yin without the yang
Or the water without the flame
The yes without the no; any source of growth without the pain
The pride without the shame, no type of night without the day
You surely won't ever be born if you could never pa** away
That's the way it works, it maybe hurts, regardless
Life's an auto-piloting system which is flawless
With no supervision so many different things evolved
And we wouldn't have made it far if d**h was not a fated part of it
[Hook]
I know how hard it is to watch your loved ones die
How hard it really is to say goodbye
I know how difficult it is to fault yourself, trust me I've wondered why
Feel the pain, release the strain 'till there's no tears left to cry
How many times that an angel you knew could fly
Felt the pain and was moved to try to escape it through suicide?
It's true that you might always miss their identities
But their spirits and their memories thrive through you and I
[Verse 3]
And all loses meaning
When we see that our time is fleeting and our lives are depleting
Defeating all that we know as we hold on hopelessly selfish
Totally helpless against the sweltering cycle repeating
That's how it's always been and how it always will be
As long as I'm alive I know this life of mine will k** me
And still we decide to fight it while striving for immortality
Proud to be k**ing our only habitat with agility
And every one of us will fade from sight, dismayed, contrite
With some type of a plague or blight
But do not go gently friendly as the day turns night
But rage and fight intensely 'gainst the fading light
You may be making plans and hoping to hold 'em
But dammit don't take it for granted, frankly only a moment
Is all it takes for your soul to be thrown away with atonement
I hope today, you'll awaken and reclaim total ownership
[Hook]
As for me, when I slip into Infinity's frigid vicinity
Remember this is what is meant to be
I'm uninhibited, vindicated, swimming in streams
Of unlimited dreams, leading again to the infinite sea
This physical frame that I've obtained is none
But a game that I've temporarily been playing for fun
Enjoy your days in the sun before you return to the enormous
Formless realm where all's amalgamated as One
