We used to go out
Under the moonlight to play
And we would sit round
An old man or woman
Who would tell us
Stories of the old days
We played ampe (hopscotch)
And we played poapoanaa nulaa (hide and seek)
The older married women played jan-na
The husbands and kids watched
We've forgotten all that now
Those old ways of having fun
You are lost if you don't know
Where you have come from
You are lost if you don't
Know who your people are
So I say, and I say it loud
Come, lets go back
Try the things we left behind
And add them to what we have now
