The sea was aglitter under a sky
Of sunset's final red;
We sat, alone and silent by
The lonely fisherman's shed.
The waters washed and the vapors rose,
The seagull flew far and about,
Then from your eyes that brimmed with love
The tears came falling out.
I saw them fall onto your hand,
Then quickly knelt to cup
Your hand in mine, and from your hand
I drank your teardrops up.
My body has shriveled since that day.
The soul has been dying for years.
That wretched pestilential vixen
Has poisoned me with tears.
