The game has been available for Mac from June 20th, Rockstar announced via Twitter. No word currently on whether the game will receive Steamplay compatibilty on Steam - allowing PC players to play it on Mac also, without an additional purchase - or whether the game will be available via the Mac App Store. Chances are it will join fellow Rockstar games GTA: San Andreas, GTA: Vice City and GTA III in both the Mac App Store and Steam at the same time
Mac gaming has been growing in leaps and bounds, thanks in part to iOS's popularity and Steam's compatibility with Mac and Linux. This sort of release, although a year after the release of the game on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, does bring forward the possibility of other Rockstar games hitting the Mac platform in the future. Grand Theft Auto V on a MacBook with Retina Display? That'd be nearly as good as Max Payne 3 at 4K
