The Western Ocean's unforgiving tides
How the sunlight breaks the water here
Reminds me of her eyes
As I sink into that blacking deep
I pray my deep sea mama will come round
And rescue me
The Captain of my vessel
Was an old and cruel man
I would not lash my brothers
But only do best as I can
They drug me from my quarters
And they asked me how I pled
And I would not change my story
"into the deep" was what they said
Adorned in j**els and golden chains
Stolen from the drowning sailors
That she's chosen not to save
Will I be the one to change her mind?
Or will my skin wash from my bones
Down here beneath the reach of time
As light falls farther from my eyes
A calmness washes over me
And I am not afraid to die
As she wraps her arms around me
She sings to me
That some day every sailor will come rest down here with me
