Sign for Silence
There was thunder in the sky that night
Rattling the windows of the nursery
Dragon shadows diving down the wall
So real I couldn't help but scream
Then my mother walked into the room
She came to set me free and scare the monsters all away
She pressed a finger to her lips and gently said to me...she said
“I wish you had, I wish you'd be a sign for silence
Listen to the voice that speaks
A sign for silence”
Calling people everywhere
A sign for silence...Home
Out with the “fellas” as a younger man
Changing who I was to be a friend
Taking chances on the late night streets
Burning the candle from the other end
So I asked the mirror on the wall
"Is this person that I want to be or do I want to be at all?"
I closed my eyes to fall asleep, and these words came to me
“I wish you had, I wish you'd be a sign for silence
Listen to the voice that speaks
A sign for silence”
Calling people everywhere
A sign for silence...Home
This world is full of noise and violence
We all could use a little silence
Sitting with my daughter in a quiet cafe
The day was coming when she went away
I had to tell her she would be ok
But struggled for the words to say
I tried to tell her that one thing is true
There was one thing that she had to do
I said, “to find the truth you have to take a look inside of you.”
I will shed a tear and wave goodbye
Watching you take off and fly
Towards a distant star that shines beyond this sky
“I wish you had, I wish you'd be a sign for silence
Listen to the voice that speaks
A sign for silence”
Calling people everywhere
A sign for silence...Home
