I saw her in my heart
She was sad and sullen
I went to her like someone
With a guilty consciousness
She cast down her eyes
I stood before her
All pale and trembling
I said, “I love you truly, you know that”
She said, as love speaks
In all her loveliness
“I know”.
I said, weeping, “You do believe me?…uff!”
She said in an undertone, “yes”
Tears ran down my cheeks
She stood like a rock of faith.
I said, more forcefully,
“You know I love you, there is nothing but you,
Only you, only and only and only you”
She wept, and spoke with a soul rending smile
“I know, you love me, I believe you.
But you don't believe in yourself.
It's just you are trying to make a lie to be a truth”
I got down on my knees, crying, like a little baby
Helpless and morose, and said
“You are my truth, why do you care about a lie?”
She set beside me, in all her charm and grace
And in a rueful tone, said
“It's not the lie I care about, a lie can never replace truth.
I weep for you my love, for you are deceiving yourself,
Your tongue and lips may make her believe you love her
But you know in your heart that no one can separate you from me.
Not even d**h that has snatched me away.
I am your truth; she is your lie,
You lie to her, you deceive yourself,
You lie to me, never, you can't.
For I am your heart,
I am your soul.”
