I was again in my chamber, lost in thoughts
Wondering at the miracles of divine nature
Out of life's discordant mayhem, i wrought
A harmonious whole of celestial stature.
A heavenly sylph, invisible and filmy fine
So beautiful like shimmer of the rippling waves
Under yon bower, 'neath the fringed leaves
Whence filtered-light danced on my moist face.
Cladded in emerald, she was part of the scene
With dark dense hair spreading their sheen
On the adorning jasmine flowers and her
Long smooth neck. Her glistening nose ring
Combined with the glow in her cheeks
Made her look an angel, a dryad a Queen.
The luster of her eyes, dark black enchanted eyes,
Were Cupid's arrows, deadly and impeccable
Made such a symphony with her attire,
It spellbound me, set my perception afire
A ray of searing pain ran through my spine
I could not move, on a cloud i was flying
I shrieked with all my might and my heart
Was pierced by cruel Cupid's piousness dart
