The hero's journey is the twelve steps a character in a story goes through. The epic hero monomyth is still an important concept today because Luke Skywalker fulfilled the epic hero monomyth in Star Wars, and it is a good and easy way to go through a story. Mostly the protagonist of a story goes through the hero's journey. In many stories there is one character that faces obstacles to eventually get that prize or respect at the end. For example Luke Skywalker from Star Wars was a hero.
First, Luke Skywalker fulfills the epic hero monomyth because he goes through the hero's journey steps. Luke starts off with a normal life on a farm. Then he was called to adventure from princess Leia. Usually as any other character of a story he has a**istance from another character to help him complete his journey. Luke's mentor is Obi-Wan who rescues him from the sand people and teaches Luke about the force. As for this he leaves his planet and faces obstacles like battling with storm troopers. At the end he becomes a man, and receives a medal from Leia. Every example is important because it tells the steps that Luke took through his journey.
In addition my hero is Brian D. because he also went through the steps of the epic hero journey. For example he had a normal life playing video games like any other teenage boy. Then one day he defeated the law and got was called to adventure when he got accepted to VGHS. Later being there he went through different trials and was defeated during them to finally get to the end to defeat his enemy and win. This is important because Brian D. starts off at the call to adventure, from when things were normal to where life is better than before.
Furthermore the best way to an*lyze all stories should be through the epic hero monomyth. Because all stories have a plot and protagonist therefore the character will always go through trials and tests. In my opinion Brian D. is a better hero because he relates to my life in certain situations. For instance he is happy he got accepted to Vghs, just how I got accepted and pa**ed to the next grade. In addition he starts brand new at a school and is defeated, how I started off at a new school and it wasn't what I expected. Moreover Luke Skywalker was a good hero in Star Wars. I think Brian D. is a better role model because he relates to teens more dealing with high school than Luke Skywalker.
Lastly, the hero monomyth is important to understand because it goes through a series of steps throughout the story, and every character goes through these steps. Both of the characters fulfilled the steps of the epic hero monomyth. The epic hero monomyth is the best way to an*lyze all stories.
