I wander here amidst the peaceful still night
Gazing at starlit skies
Drifting past the trees
Delighting in the peace and the wonders about
For the night with stars and moon so bright
Its peaceful, quite as people sleep
Children with tousled hair
Tiny smiles and blankets kicked off
Drift and dream wonderful dreams
Perhaps rainbows and flowers
Its been so long I hardly remember
But wondrous the night
My peace my solace
Comfort for a lonesome heart
I hear the voices and wonder near
The rose arbor my most beloved sanctuary
Here two apparently in love whisper
Sad I am to have my peace disturbed
Yet for a spell I listen
A story he tells with perhaps a shudder I see
Tis so sad, he says
She loved this place so.
Forgetting myself I wander close
Tis said she's buried here
Then a gasp
It is she the loved one at his side
She stares at me and he to looks my way
Perhaps her ghost do you think
As I fade slowly away
Happy my home is still loved
That lovers still whisper together by my roses
That I have not been forgotten
My night wanderings ended this night
Yet the nights are many
I am at peace
