Iris grew up lonely, the real kind of lonely. As a child, she was hated by her mother and abused by her father. Most days she kept to herself because she was afraid to talk to anyone about her problems. She had a little brother as well, but he was more like a son to her. Their parents were usually too busy partying to pay much attention to their kids, and when they did it wasn't the good kind. They were homeless a lot and hardly ever attended school. This was the life Iris lived until she was ten years old, and child protection services took them away.
Her grandparents took her in for almost a year, but when her grandfather got cancer, they had to move out. By the time Iris was eleven, she was a ward of the state. Seven foster homes later, she finally found a permanent one to live in when she was fifteen. This family was perfect. They raised her as if she was their own daughter and supported her in everything she did. She was an A student in high school and involved in many clubs. Iris was a social bu*terfly, and had many friends.
Then she went to college. Iris's life changed drastically during those five years. She got into d** and started drinking a lot. The stress of having a full-time job and going to cla** full-time was weighing on her. Many times, she contemplated quitting school and just working, but she never did. She also met someone while she was in school. Jacob was an amazing man. It was love at first sight. Well, technically it was love at first fall. They met when she tripped going up the stairs in the English building, and he caught her as she was about to fall backwards. From that point on, they were inseparable.
After Iris graduate college with a degree in Psychology, she went on to work with families who had disabled children. She spent her career years helping developmentally disabled children learn to function in society to the best of their ability. She worked to keep these children from being placed in institutions with the hopes that they could live as independently as possible. She also spent her free time writing novels and self-help books. She was well known for her books for foster teens and their parents. She helped many kids with similar pasts like hers, and taught them that they have a bright future no matter what anyone says.
As for Jacob and Iris, they got married two years after Iris's graduation. A few years later, they had their first two children, Stark and Evie, and Gideon was born four years after. Iris and Jacob watched their kids grow up and sent them to college. All of them did well in school and they were all just as involved in clubs and sports as their mother. Years down the road after Iris's kids were all grown up with families of their own; she pa**ed away in her sleep with a smile on her face.
