Caesar Gateway Essay
William Shakespeare never wrote a play about a contemporary subject. Most of his plays were already know to his audience. His depictions of the men in one of his famous plays, “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar “and many others are still used today as an important record of history. One of the men, Marcus Brutus, was very noble & showed patriotism for his beloved Rome. Shakespeare portrays Brutus' character by showing his personal & political beliefs and the motive behind his decisions.
Brutus had a lot of patriotism for Rome & wanted what was best for his country. Brutus & the rest of the alliance k**ed Caesar because they believed he corrupted the Republic (Brutus' speech). Brutus was misguided and thought k**ing Caesar would stop the republic from becoming ruled by a king. He believed Caesar cared more about his ambition that he did about the good of Rome. Brutus is a very honorable man ( Mark Antony speech). Brutus is honorable because he did what he felt was right in the best of his & Rome's interest. He honored his country by saving them from power-hungry Caesar. Brutus wanted nothing but the best for Rome .
Brutus' motive behind his decisions was the future of Rome and how great it could become. And he believes Caesar in the way of it . “ Not that I loved Caesar less , but that I loved Rome more “ ( Brutus background) . This quote shows that Brutus cared for and loved Caesar but he cared more about Rome & would choose Rome if it came to it . He believes Caesar is in the way of his beloved Rome's future . This proves Brutus believes Rome is better off without Caesar. “But alas , Caesar must bleed for it “ ( Brutus speech) . Brutus believes Caesar should pay for tricking Rome's people and that he seeks power and must / deserves to die for it . He thinks k**ing Caesar will solve Rome's issues . He believes this will make him honorable to Rome & it needs to be done . Brutus' motive was his beloved Rome. He gave his life for his country.
In conclusion, Brutus was an honorable man in his own way . He loved Rome and k**ed his best friend to better it . If Brutus didn't love Rome the way he did & k**ed Caesar when he didi it would have been a terrible place to live.
