[Verse]
I never wanted
To be a rapper
This is how it started
J Putty went and dropped The Ham
And then I got it
All up inside my head
And boy, man we was flockin'
No Kodak Black
Black marker in my pocket
We were on the course
Out at Warren
Playin' what are the odds
Of course it never gets borin'
I heard my name
I dropped my bag and then I looked on back
Jon Putman said “yo Lumberjack
You heard my tape, you know it's fire
Let's see what you got”
I said one in five, I should've set it higher
But I was on the spot
And we counted to three and we both said three
So we finished hole three
And I started rhyming
It wasn't that good, I was so bad at freestyles
But you could already tell that I had myself a mean style
So I went home and proceeded to write Sunshine
Came up with the hook August 20th during lunchtime
Grabbed a chromebook and I looked for a beat
“Macklemore and Ryan Lewis type beat” for free
So I copped it
Wrote the first four bars, wasn't stoppin'
Then I wrote a whole tape
Christmas mornin' I dropped it
Took a case of discs to school, my mixtape burned on ‘em
Nobody wanted one, I wanted them to yearn on ‘em
I went to lunch and Stanfel said he wasn't payin' five dollars
But he gave me $2.50, he bought it though
That was the moment that I knew that I could rap
Coolest junior in the school just copped my ten tracks
And I knew in my head that he wasn't gonna listen
He was friends with Josh and Jesse
So he wouldn't just dismiss it
Springtime rolled around and I had written another
“Flip Sides” was the name
And the name was still Lumber
It was all about positivity
Even though I was kidding, see I dropped a diss on Block just six weeks prior to this EP
It did so bad, I don't know why
It wasn't bad, bro
I had begun to develop this sorta dad flow
It wasn't mad and I had some cheesy rhymes
But I finally had better quality and I could rhyme on time
Summer started and the plans had begun
To begin a new tape to follow up number one
I was chillin' in bed
May 31 — 31st
A rhyme popped in my head
First “I'm young”
And then a dirty verse
I wrote the best verses that I had in my mind
That whole summer rappin' took up like all of my time
Writing down every line that I had pop in my mind
Then I put ‘em all together and dropped ‘em September 9th
I needed somethin' more simple
Somethin' more true to myself
Why not my actual name? So I went on as myself
So that's that, Lumberjack ain't dead
I never planned on rappin, just like I said
But here I am, fourth mixtape and
I'm not stopping ‘cause I'm always ten steps ahead
I love my mom, I love my dad, I love my church
Gonna flow what's in my head until I'm dead or till it hurts
I don't care, I'm up for either, so whatever happens first
I got no goal cause I'm already the best rapper on Earth
Too real
