SCORE The epic hero Monomyth is important to know because it's in many stories and films like Star Wars, Video Game High school and it also shows good role models for people to look up to. The epic hero monomyth is a diagram that shows steps a hero would take in his or her journeys. Most stories and films follow the monomyth in the order they are in but others don't. Star Wars for instance follows the monomyth step by step but VGHS skips around a little bit but they both use all of the concepts of the epic hero monomyth. Luke Skywalker is a good example of a hero because he goes through all of the steps of the epic hero monomyth. He goes through the first step of the Monomyth which is the Status Quo the begging of the journey. At the begging he is a normal teen living on his home planet, Tatoonie, on his uncle's plantation. He worked there all of his life and thought that he would never leave to another planet. He also goes through the Departure step of the epic hero monomyth. Luke gets his call to adventurer and finds Obi Wan Kenobi to help him. They both went to the city to find transport off the planet and they found Han Solo to help them get off the planet and go to alderaan. Luke Skywalker goes the Crisis step of the monomyth. He watches obi wan die at the hand of Darth Vader when they were escaping his ship. After that he gets depressed that obi wan died. He goes through the Resolution step the final step of the epic hero monomyth. Luke goes through this step when he destroys the d**h Star and wins the battle. He later wins a medal for the victory. Brian D. from VGHS is a good example of a hero because he goes through all the steps of the epic hero monomyth. The first step he goes through is the first every hero goes through the Status Quo. Brain D. at the begging was a normal teenager playing video games. He also went to a normal high school. He also goes through the departure step of the epic hero monomyth. In this step Brain gets an invitation to go to Video Game High School. He leaves his normal life and school to go there. Another step brain goes is the Crisis. In this step he is defeated by the law and is kicked out of VGHS for not having enough points to be in it. Brian has to go back home to his normal life. The final step Brain D. has to go through is Resolution Step the final step in the epic hero monomyth. Brian gets to play in the last game between the varsity and J.V team. He beats the law during the game and gets back into VGHS.
Both these heroes are good but Brain D. is a better role model than Luke Skywalker for kids these days. One reason for this is that kids now days play more video games than anything else. There is also a major league for playing video games and brain inspires kids into trying their best to join one of the teams. Another reason is that many kids these days don't know the story line of Star Wars and the characters. So they don't the lessons that the film teaches you about life. Brain also teaches them that even though that you are defeated you can still do what you love to do. Brain D. is the best role model for today because he can connect to kids these days better than Luke Skywalker. This is how Luke Skywalker and Brian D. are good heroes because they fit into the epic hero monomyth. And how brain is the better role model than Luke Skywalker for today. It's important to know the monomyth because it's in many movies and stories. It can help you understand the stories and movies better.
