Poem 1: Life: In Retro that I spect (In Retropsect)
In retrospect, I have endured obstacles beyond my wildest dreams/
My father was strung out and my mother was in a rut/
Sometimes I prayed to myself and cried aloud/
I ain't never to proud to beg/
The tears started to swarm down my face/
The pain, hatred, and sorrow had engulfed my very existence/
Depression latched to my back and ruled me like an iron fist/
I can recall nights of hopelessness and envy/
Believe me it was not pretty, but petty/
Thank god I made something out me/
It's more ironical than O. Henry/
I feel like I have pierced more railroad spikes through my head than John Henry/
The very thought perplexes my mentality and shuns my true emotions away/
Everything in life has a reason or purpose to it/
So find yours!!!/
Poem 2: A road to nowhere
All I ever do is sit back and reminisce on the good, bad, and ugly times I had/
Call me Rakim because I am a poet that is a microphone fiend/
Like 2Pac said “the truth is there's no hope for the future”/
I'm like Da Vinci, Beethoven, Einstein, and Martin Luther King when I rap?
Why because I have musical talent, intelligent, I paint genius portraits, and possess powerful oratory sk**s to be exact/
Humility is what I strive and I stay out of foolishness/
My flow is just like ever race mixed into a single quilt/
Another road to nowhere is all I know
When I grow up I want the stars to be baffled my by graces/
Elevating and edifying other people helps make a difference/
No need for the ignorant or arrogant attitudes cause it depicts you as real rude/
High up in the clouds is where I reside like a kung fu guru, but don't call me Bruce Lee dude/
Time is of the essence so cherish it wisely like you would your family inheritance….get it/
The elephant has entered the room/
Don't rely on Mans logic because it will fail them eventually/
Leaving behind the scattered pieces of the puzzle, because I need to let my flow begin to braid/
Back then I was okay... Now I been deemed the undisputable juggernaut sage
I'm just another mere man standing trying to prove his point/
Only time will reveal the honorable and blot out the frauds/
Poem 3: Inspiration
You inspire me to reach untapped areas and to explore new heights/
My inspiration comes from a plethora of people/
You can be inspired by well known people or just an ordinary person/
Wherever the inspiration comes from use it as a sword to penetrate your desires/
Sulking with beliefs that lead to no where is going to be miserable; instead be patient and let your heart follow/
Success is only as good a the failures/
A greatness lies within ever single human being, but it needs to be dragged out of us/
You inspire me to do my best when I could settle for mediocrity/
For that I must thank you/
When I see you I see the epitome of gentleness equipped with intelligence/
If you did not inspire me I honestly can say I do not know where I would be. True Story/
