A heroic monomyth is a basic pattern that its proponents argue is found in many narratives from around the world. The heroic monomyth have 12 patterns that most hero follow through their journey or path and they are status quo, call to the adventure, a**istance, departure, trials, approach, crisis, treasure, result, return, new life, and resolution. In modern days, people still used this type of basic pattern to create heroes like the hero, Katniss Everdeen from the movie and book the Hunger Games. Another hero monomyth is hero name Harry Potter who saved Hogwarts from eviler. Some hero follows these same 12 patterns but in different order like Eren Yeager from the anime Attack on Titans, that he start an ordinary life but then departure his home because titans were attacking. I will describe about Luke Skywalker and my own hero show a hero monomyth and which one is a better heroic monomyth.
Luke Skywalker shows a hero monomyth because he follows the 12 patterns that heroes follow their journey or path. Luke starts of to be a normal teenage living with his aunt and uncle at a farm. His uncle buys two droids and his uncle told Luke to take them inside the house to clean them. When he was cleaning them, he asks them their name and they are C3PO and R2D2. They say that they were from the rebellion and Luke was surprise, and when he was cleaning R2D2 a hologram show a women that needs help from a guy name Obi Wan Kenobi. Then Luke went to look for the guy name Obi Wan Kenobi and found him, show him the hologram of the women needing his help. Obi Wan stared for few second and told Luke that he needed his help because he is to old. Luke say yes after finding that his aunt and uncle was dead and so they went to found a person that can fly them to the women to save her. When they finally found a person to take them, they off to save the women and they did. But Obi Wan die and Luke was depressed. This show that Luke Skywalker is hero monomyth because it tells how his normal life changes during the journey (status quo through the crisis stage), and how his faith changes when he meet the two droids. Luke Skywalker follows the 12 patterns in order from the status quo through the resolution.
Eren Yeager will be my hero monomyth. Eren Yeager shows a hero monomyth because he follows the 12 patterns but unlike Luke Skywalker, Eren does not follow the patterns in order. He does starts of with the status quo but then he goes to departure that's when he leaves his home. Then he gets call to the adventure by joining the Survey Corps and getting a**istance from both of his childhood friend. For trials, well he went through very difficult training when facing the titans and for approach he fights the titans with his team. Eren's crisis can be when everybody dies when fighting with the titan includes him but for his treasure, he comes back alive and was granted the ability to turn to a titan. In the result of this, he k**s every titan that k**ed is team in his titan form and wins the fight. After that, he returns back with his childhood friends and the Survey Corps. Eren acts more like adult and a leader then he did before and he finds out that his dad might still be alive and how can he transform into a titan. This shows how Eren Yeager is a hero monomyth.
Eren Yeager is a better hero monomyth than Luke Skywalker for modern day. My reason is because he shows more heroic and bravery than Luke does. Eren's journey can make you more attach to his life and adventure. Eren follows and makes the flow on the hero monomyth much better than Luke. Eren can make the feelings of his more realistic than Luke can ever do. This is my reason why Eren is a better hero monomyth than Luke.
That every hero that was made follows the heroic monomyth no matter how old or new the hero is. There will not be no hero that follows the heroic monomyth just that we do not see it until we keep showing it over and over. Without the heroic monomyth, there will be no heroes because without good fantasy or how they became a hero from the beginning, you can forget about making a hero the first place. For example, people will ask you how he gained the courage to keep going or how was he like before he gains the power. This is why the heroic monomyth is important part of literature and creating a hero.
