{Verse 1}
I once knew a girl, who's name was Avril Carter
Born whilst her mother was young with no father
She was raised in London, from the middle class ends
She was a shy girl, so she didn't have many friends
She hated the clubs, hated drinking and all the noise
Because of this, she found it hard to fit in with the boys
Until one day, her mother brought her to a camp far from home
For the weekend at this all girls camp, it was her alone
Away from her family, this bothered her sadly
However that all faded, whеn she met Natalie
Sharing a cabin, thе two became friends that were best
So Avril can now lay her lonelyness problems down to rest
Couldn't be seperated, those two girls did everything together
They loved each other's company, swearing it would last forever
Until the end of the weekend ended that duration
But the two shared numbers to prevent separation
{Verse 2}
A day after returning home with her mother in her car
She learned that from her, Natalie didn't live that far
At least twice a week, she would make herself look nice and neat
Before going on a short trek, a few blocks down the street
It was around those times Avril's gut would feel funny
Even if it was raining, with Natalie, it always seemed sunny
Hearing Natalie's name gave Avril's face a red rush
'Til she realized she was not just a friend, she was her crush
{Verse 3}
So, Avril & Natalie both decided to have a sleepover
There was no alcohol between them, they were both sober
They did usual things, makeup, games, doing each other's hair
Watching TV and Nat's DVDs, both in their sleepwear
This suddenly changed, when Natalie took Avril's head
Pushed her down and wrestled with her on the bed
Natalie took control, her hands gentily pressed on her hips
That was when three words slipped through Avril's lips
As soon as those words were said, the room went quiet
Feeling ashamed, the blood in her cheeks began to riot
Avril repeated those three words, tears brewing in her eyes
But when Natalie kissed her, those tears were cast aside
Natalie said that for Avril, she's felt the same way too
"You don't need to cry anymore Avril, I also love you!"
With that, the two experimented deep into the night
Natalie was dominant, Avril didn't at all put up a fight
{Verse 4}
As the two slept, they knew they'd be lesbians by the morning
But when Avril told her mother, she gave her a warning
She told her when she's with Nat, she needs to beware
Not because she was h*mophobic, but because she cared
She told her a story in Lambeth on a grey foggy day
Where a couple were beaten by boys, just for being gay
She worried that if they were alone, h*mophobes would strike
Beat them up, calling them pussy punchers or a pair of dykes
{Verse 5}
With Natalie, Avril was confident and felt grand
The two would walk around together, hand in hand
Nobody spoke out against them, nobody had the guts
But the story Avril was told in her brain left behind cuts
Around the school, the two were simply put, a perfect pair
The only problems they faced was the occassional glare
Whilst the two were together, everything all around felt right
But the fact they were together brought their doom one stormy night
{Verse 6}
They both took a walk away from urban areas down a rural path
They both sheltered under a canopy of trees from the sky's wrath
As long as the two were together, that was all that matters
Too bad through the lightening, they didn't see their attackers
Before they both knew it, they had hands over their faces
They screamed for help, but no one heard them in the open spaces
The attackers proceeded to drag them off against their will
The two saw their faces, blank, but looking ready to kill
This gang of 3 girls abused the two, punches, smacks, kicks
They then drew weapons and beat them with bats and bricks
When it all stopped, their faces were badly bruised and bloody
Their confidence and bones broken, their clothes muddy
Their pockets were emptied, but that wasn't their main purpose
The gang dragged them to a can*l and pushed them under the surface
They were too weak to move, nor could they make a sound
So it really didn't take long for the two of them to drown
{Verse 7}
Many are out there, abused for being h*mo and imprisoned
And whilst the story is complete fiction, this critial issue isn't
Some people have already died, just for being who they are
Even if you're not h*mosexual, you can understand the scars
If you know someone who's gay and being bullied, make a stand
They'll appreciate you more if you lend them a helping hand
And if you're a person who likes to leave people's feelings bruised
For a second, pause. Just put yourself into Avril's shoes
