Thinking back, when I was a kid
Doin all the things my granddad did
Never thought it'd be this hard to fill his shoes
All that wisdom under granddad's hat
Wishing like hell I'd remember all that
Learned everything I know from that old man
Before he died he gave me the keys and said
'Son, this is how you'll remember me'
When you fire up the tractor and roll in the hay
Light up a bonfire at the end of the day
Take another sip from mama's mason jar
I ain't scared to work, that's how I was raised
Live by the Bible and taught how to pray
Sow my crops where the river meets the sky
I'm a F.A.R.M.B.O.Y.
That old road is now black top
It cuts right through where we sow our crops
That rusted windmill stopped turning the other day
And that farmhouse granddad built with his hands
Still stands strong on this old farm land
Its roots run deep, they're forever here to stay
Still got the barn and its got the plow
Granddad always said that's what his life is all about
When I fire up the tractor and roll in the hay
Light up a bonfire at the end of the day
Taking a sip from mama's mason jar
I ain't scared to work, that's how I was raised
Live by the Bible and taught how to pray
Sow my crops where the river meets the sky
I'm a F.A.R.M.B.O.Y.
I still fire up the tractor and roll in the hay
Light up the bonfire at the end of the day
I take a sip from my mama's mason jar
Yeah, I ain't scared of the world, that's how I was raised
Live by the Bible and taught how to pray
Sow my crops where the river meets the sky
I'm a F.A.R.M.B.O.Y.
Yeah, I'm a farmboy till the day that I die
