I'm just a lonesome hombre,
Just a-sittin' here,
Don't know what I'll do next fall,
There's times that I don't care.
Here I sit a-mopin'
A dreaming' silly dreams.
A worthwhile guy would figure
He'd scheme a lot of schemes.
But when I think of people
That never get the blues
They ain't so darned hot, mister.
They've just one life to choose.
They ain't had knots to saw through;
It's all been soft white wood.
Some day they'll wish they'd hit them knots.
Then they'd know they could.
There's times in life when all of us
Has gotta shovel coal
And steam 'er up fer quite a bit
To ever get that goal.
But them that's had to struggle,
To squeeze through some tough fight,
They sort of know the ropes to pull;
They get along alright.
