Mike's just out of college, he's landed a good job
He makes many dollars, he works very hard
But he won't see vacation for another nine months
He can't find the time to do all the things he wants
Is everybody happy, cause happiness is gold
Are we all so happy or are we just getting old
Jan's made it in business, she's found a brand new life
She's no longer embarra**ed, no longer a housewife
But she can't see her children for eight hours a day
She knows that they're growing up at some day care place away
Old... Old... Old...
This whole system brings us up to bring us down again
We must produce to fit the mold until we're old
I'm stuck in the middle, think I can see through
I don't know what I want, but I know what I can't do
Half my friends and family have faith in eighties wealth
Once you're aged this work ethic doesn't want your help
