Everyone's happy when there's food on the table
Everyone smiles in their sunday best
Everyone's pleased when there's work for the able
With monday night football as their chance to rest
Everyone laughs when they see something foreign
Everyone cringes when they smell dissent
Everyone cries when they go to a fuuneral
Take the afternoon off and enjoy the lament
I can see... complacency
Everyone's proud of their boy in the army
Everyone smiles at the baseball coach
Everyone looks for a chance to give orders
But the room gets deadly silent when orders approach
In this place contentment poors
But not completely
In this place people ignore
The status real they're keeping
Everyone sits in a noisy barroom
Everyone smiles and pretends it's fun
Everyone drinks to protect the boredon
And wakes up sullen when drinking is done
